Monday Ratings: Bachelor Stands Tall Against Olympics

Monday’s sports competition had very little effect on The Bachelor‘s strong season. Last night, the reality show showed only a slight dip in the viewers while remaining practically even with the previous week’s demos. 8pm Coverage of the Winter Olympics (7.2/18 in 18-49) drummed up 25.5 million spectators. The Bachelor (11.5 million, 4.0/10) was off by 800,000. House* (2.2/6) turned in 6.8 million. How I Met Your Mother* (2.2/6) registered 5.8 million. Accidentally on Purpose* (2.0/5) …

On 24, Jack Bauer can take a beating yet still complete his mission on time. In real life, Kiefer Sutherland needs a bit more recovery time. Due to a ruptured cyst near the actor’s kidneys, filming on his series has been briefly shut down while Sutherland undergoes minor surgery. The incident, which occurred early last week, should have minor impact on the show’s production schedule. “We are temporarily suspending production of 24 while our friend and …

Jack Bauer’s problems could soon be larger than life. According to Variety, screenwriter Billy Ray (State of Play) has been tapped by FOX to write a big screen adaptation of 24. Last month, star Kiefer Sutherland - who has played the lead character for eight seasons - admitted he was interested in doing a film because the “game has changed.” ...

Monday Ratings: Post-Game Boost for Big Bang

Did viewers simply forget to change the channel? Yesterday’s programming slate on CBS appeared to have benefitted nicely from Sunday night’s game. Although Monday’s comedies are typically strong, several shows saw their best numbers in quite some time. 8pm House (13.5 million, 5.1/13 in 18-49) slid by 700,000. The Bachelor (12.3 million, 4.1/10) reached season highs. How I Met Your Mother (3.8/10) kicked off the night with 10.1 million. Accidentally on Purpose (3.4/8) scored 9.2 million. …

Monday Ratings: Castle is on a High

Do fans need to help “save” Castle anymore? Last night, the ABC program - which faced a CBS repeat - earned series-high numbers. Could this be a one-time thing? Or will the trend continue? The mystery deepens… 8pm House (14.2 million, 5.2/13 in 18-49) had the best numbers of the night. The Bachelor (11.4 million, 3.9/10) added on 800,000. Chuck (6.9 million, 2.5/6) was up by 200,000. How I Met Your Mother* (2.1/6) pulled in 6.1 …

Monday Ratings: Another Painful Outing for Heroes

If NBC doesn’t cancel Heroes after the end of this season, it would be the worst decision that network has made since….well, you know. Although some have claimed the show will return next year, the phrase “hit a series low” is constantly used when referencing the program. (Last night was no exception.) Yesterday’s episode even drew less viewers than The Jay Leno Show. 8pm A two-hour episode of 24 (3.4/8 in 18-49) averaged 11 million. The …

Sunday Ratings: Globes Golden for NBC

Sunday evening had a little bit of something for everyone: sports, glamour, action and drama. Unfortunately, this meant mixed results for some network staples. And though the Golden Globes brought NBC its best 18-49 performance for a non-sports event since ER‘s finale, CBS won both the viewers and the demos with its playoff action. 8pm The 67th Annual Golden Globes (5.4/13 in 18-49) dazzled 16.9 million. A later edition of 60 Minutes (4.1/11) reported to 15.8 …

Casting Corner: Smallville, Chuck and More

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently: Chuck: Terminator 2‘s Robert Patrick has been recruited for a spot on the NBC series.
