America’s Next Top Model:  Cycle 8: The Girl Who Takes Credit

Now this episode of ANTM started off a bit creepy.  We had the unfortunately opportunity to listen in on a sexually-tinged phone conversation between Natasha and her husband.  While we can all speculate as to whether she was an actual mail-order bride, knowing that she was only 18 when she married the 40-year-old is quite unsettling…especially since she didn’t speak any English at the time.  But who am I to judge?  Natasha told her husband …

How President Bush Can Predict the Ending of “I Love New York”

Oh, yeah, I’m going to make this work.  Now, if you’re not familiar with the show, “I Love New York” is not a show wherein people from the South express their adoration for the city I call home while secretly hating it and using the term “Yankees” (the people, not the team) as a curse word.  No, it’s VH1’s “celebreality” (as they feel the need to call it) show about the search for love by …

American Idol: Season 6 Finals - Week Three

Tonight the finalists will be welcomed into the world of pop music by Miss Hollaback Girl herself—Gwen Stefani.  In the next few weeks, we will also be seeing Jenny from the Block, aka Jennifer Lopez.  Am the only one who is wondering what these two singers will have to offer outside of fashion and stage presence advice?  If you’re as curious as I am… read on! ...

America’s Next Top Model:  Cycle 8: The Girl Who Changes Her Attitude

After saying goodbye to Cassandra, the girls recouped.  Diana dealt with being on the brink of elimination.  Jael, still trying to distract herself from her friends death, let Felicia teach her a dance.  Meanwhile, Renee struggled to understand why all the girls hated her.  She honestly believed the girls were ‘looking for ways to be offended by her’.  Who says models are clueless?  Surprisingly, Renee then made a rapid about-face and pledged to stop being mean. …

America’s Next Top Model:  Cycle 8: The Girl Who Cries All The Time

The girls settle back at home after Samantha’s elimination.  Diana and Whitney bond over being the only two plus-sized girls around.  It’s a unique struggle having to worry about all the ‘sample-sizes’ that are available at the photo shoots.  Meanwhile, Jaslene finally seems to have found a sympathetic ear in good-natured Cassandra.  The girls later receive some Tyra mail alerting them to another ‘cut’ the next day.  Followers of ANTM know what that means:  Model …

An Open Letter To Future Amazing Racers

First of all, congratulations.  Also, I’m a little annoyed with you since I applied for the show a while ago with what I thought was a great hook of an idea, and didn’t get picked.  I don’t think your little thing that makes you special is better than my … oh, you do?  You just have the one … ?  And your partner, she’s never … ? Okay, fine, yours is better.  As long as you’re …

American Idol: Season 6 Finals - Week One

Okay – am I the only who thinks that Diana Ross is getting a lot of free publicity thanks to Dreamgirls?  The Oscars have already come and gone…yet thanks to American Idol, we’ll still be talking about her after tonight’s ‘theme’ show. Yes, yes, yes…Diana Ross and The Supremes were a great group.  But are we really prepared to hear male interpretations of their songs?  And more importantly, we will have to endure Sanjaya singing Baby …

Much More Antonella Barba to Come?

American Idol and scandal have been friends for a long time. The second season of the show alone was rife with media stories, from Studdard’s law suits to Abdul’s affair, to one contestant’s cups that ranneth over. Plenty of Idol fans still remember the day Frenchie Davis was unceremoniously booted from the show because of topless photos. After leaving reality TV, Frenchie went on to find Broadway success. But she hasn’t forgotten her brush with …
