Heather Mills Wanted Gay Dancing Partner

Oh, Heather Mills… the latest news of the Dancing with the Stars contestant is that she had hoped for a gay dance partner to avoid the media rumor mills about a potential love match. “I said, ‘As long as [my partner’s] gay, great.’  Because I’ve had all these rumors of these different lovers and none of the enjoyment. I haven’t had anybody for 10 months. So I was like you know, ‘Send me someone gay,’” …

ABC Comedy ‘Underbelly’ Delayed

Seems the news that American Idol will extend its results shows has hurt the premiere date of a new ABC comedy, Notes From the Underbelly. The pregnancy sitcom was supposed to begin on April 11th at 9:30 p.m., which would have cleared it from any Idol interference—until they announced that Idol would begin having longer results shows on April 11th. So, Notes from the Underbelly has been bumped to Thursdays, starting April 12, with two …

In hopes of busting that old Seinfeld curse, Jason Alexander is taking another stab at a television series. He’ll be joining an untitled ABC cop comedy. Cop comedy… hmmm, not too sure how Alexander will play in that, but his role will be as an internal affairs superintendent, so I guess it could work. For now, he’ll have a recurring role, but if the show gets picked up, he would become a series regular. Alexander’s last …

Todd Bridges Death Rumors—Untrue!

Hot on the heels of Sinbad’s false death reports, another death rumor is circulating. This time, it’s about Diff’rent Strokes and Everybody Hates Chris actor Todd Bridges. While Bridges has had his fair share of troubles in the past, there is no truth to the current rumors. The news started to spread after a New York radio station reported on the death of a truck driver named Shawn Bridges, who made a documentary of his downward …

Well, it was only a matter of time before a movie of the week about Anna Nicole Smith materialized. Well, we’re not there quite yet, but Law & Order: Criminal Intent will feature a character similar to Anna Nicole, with Kristy Swanson taking on the role. The episode airs May 8th, in one of their “ripped from the headlines” storylines. Here’s the kooky part, David Cross will be playing a Howard K. Stern-type character. I don’t …

Cate Blanchett to Star in Fourth ‘Indiana Jones’

Cate Blanchet (Notes on a Scandal, The Aviator) was recently in negotiations for a starring role in the fourth installment of Indiana Jones, according to her publicist.  The role will place Blanchett in the oft-occupied female space next to Indy, hopefully allowing her to exude a strong, supporting presence that is typical of her performances.  Much remains unknown about the long-awaited film, but keep checking back for all updates right here on FilmCrunch. The fourth installment …

Here’s a bit of great news—Ricky Gervais, who created and starred in the original The Office is going to star along with Greg Kinnear in a romantic comedy titled Ghost Town. Oh man, do I ever love Ricky Gervais, and his recent news to pass on another season of Extras had me feeling downright glum. There’s a little pep in my step now though, because not only do I dig on Gervais, but I’m crazy …

Idol Extends Results Shows

Ugh. Just when I was beginning to enjoy the rapid pace of the half hour American Idol results shows, they’ve gone and changed things up. Beginning April 11th, the Wednesday shows will run an hour and continue that way through May. Now, wouldn’t you think that as the pool of contestants gets smaller, the need for an hour-long show is less necessary too? Ah, no one knows needless filler like American Idol—more dramatic Seacrest pauses, …
