  • I have my doubts anytime a new Sonic appears, as it's been so long since anything in the series has been worth playing. The next great Sonic game, without a doubt will be one released to XBLA as a retro title. It's too bad Sega doesn't consider another 2-D version to reboot the series.

  • Prince of Persia orginally appeared on the Apple II, and was ported to the PC, Amiga, and ST a year later. After a few years, it would also appear on consoles and handhelds. It was the first game that featured fluid life-like animation. The original version was also ridiculously hard, something most people forget. It's nice to see that the XBLA version not only improves the graphics, but allows you to progress to later levels via a continue option.

  • I can just imagine the meeting at Microsoft the day this was pitched. Imagine charging for a game that is released for free with every copy of Windows, and has been played by practically everyone. Probably went over as well as the idea to release a high definition verison of Pong. And while it's easy to write off, it does offer solid and highly addicitive gameplay, with mutiple games, multiplayer (which is odd considering it's Solitatare-- a game for one), there's animation, sounds and goals. I'm finding that I'm playing a round or two between other games, much like I did when UNO was first released.

  • It's a lot of work to maintain an online presence. When you think about it, having an original game or two a week, or other add-on DLC requires development and planning. Microsoft took time to ramp up their offering, and really has been working at this since the original Xbox. The 360 just brought it to another level. Nintendo hit the ground running by offer legacy games weekly, but has released limited original content outside of that. So I think Sony is just trying to put together a strategy and get content into their pipeline. Eventually it will come together, but I think in the short term we'll see sporadic content.

  • I remember when everyone was playing this game. At the time, it was cutting edge, with the high quality graphics, challenging puzzles, and ability to travel around and do whatever you wanted (in a sort of limited sense). There was a tranquil element involved in just exploring and listening to the sound clues. Today I'm unsure if such a game would be as welcome as it was in the past, although this would certainly make an interesting addition to the DS library, and I think could possibly work as DLC for some console for those that like this kind of gaming.
