Microsoft XNAMicrosoft has release XNA Studio for video game developers on Monday to ease in the creation of video games for its current console as well as for its next console.  The product is meant to help developers exchange code amongst teams in order to speed up development and standardize systems for porting video games from PC to Xbox (2) and vice versa. This means that the tools will be able to assist developers to keep their budget and keep video games from being ridiculously overpriced. According to Microsoft executives, XNA will be help developers keep next generation video games on the same level as the current Xbox video games. We’ll just have to keep our eyes wide open during the months to come and see if these promises are fulfilled.

50 Cent's DSIn other related 50 Cent video game gossip - feast your eyes on the rapper’s customized Nintendo DS. Apparently 50 Cent wasn’t feeling the silver bling of Nintendo’s portable console, and settling for a Nintendo DS skin certainly wouldn’t be P.I.M.P.  The result is a custom made urban camouflaged Nintendo DS that has “G-Unit” emblazoned on the front cover. Now that’s gangsta!

50 Cent: Bulletproof

Rapper 50 Cent will be the main character in an upcoming video game set to be released later on this year. Fiddy will be playing himself in 50 Cent: Bulletproof.

50 Cent: Bulletproof will star hip-hop artist 50 Cent, including his likeness and voice. The game will have a plot that focuses on New York’s drug underworld, putting players to the task of uncovering an international conspiracy.

Okay so maybe we don’t have many details on the game to make it sound better than it looks – however, the game’s visuals look great. GameGossip has more screenshots for your viewing pleasure.

Samsung 82 Inch LCD TV

Come on now, Samsung. Why do you taunt us so? Obviously this 82” TFT-LCD high definition television isn’t even on the market yet (you can expect to see it in a couple of years), but once it does hit retail, who is going to be able to afford one? Oh well, it sure is a nice way to hit CeBIT with style.

South Park StudioIf you have ever wanted to create your own South Park character - or create yourself as a South Park character - now is your chance. The South Park Studio over at Planearium allows you to put together bits and pieces, Potato Head style, to create your own South Park characters. I must say, they did a good job with this one. It is definitely fun messing around with all the different pieces they have to offer. Feel free to link to some of your creations.

Pilot Watch  My geek meter went right past the 11 mark when I saw the Pilot Watch, which has a built in slide rule. If you didn’t know, a slide rule is a device made obsolete by the invention of the electronic calculator.  For those of us who want to get nostalgic or flaunt their supergenius, the slider helps you solve time, distance and speed equations, provide currency conversions, multiply, divide, and perform any conversion of a linear nature such as ounces to grams, kilograms to pounds, miles to kilometers, etc.  Impress your date and calculate tips at the same time!  It retails for $250.

Imp-2003  It’s amazing how quickly others can copy a product.  Still, I guess competition is a good thing.  Behold the Imp-2003, an iPod shuffle-like device from I-Money Tech of China.  It’s screenless and random, as you’d expect.  But what makes it even better is the built in SD slot for additional MP3 goodness, and a plastic loop built into its chassis so that you can swing it on your neck - or other body part of your choice.

TextWe’re all for getting tech-heads together to share ideas and have an all around good time.  Meetup.com is a free online service that helps you set up meetings in your area.  It includes member profiles, links to maps, event planners, picture galleries, and even a built-in message board. We’ve even planned a series of get-togethers ourselves in New York for fans of the upcoming PSP handheld.  Private messaging requires a fee on the service, but hey, that’s why there’s email and IM.
