Rowling’s Latest Book Project

The famous Harry Potter author has been spotted in Scottish cafes working on a new novel. This time, Rowling is writing crime fiction – a detective novel. J. K. Rowling wrote Harry Potter in similar cafes, back when she was still struggling to make ends meet and get the bills paid. Today, she’s richer than Queen Elizabeth. Harry Potter books have sold more than 335 million copies worldwide and spawned a slew of successful movies. Last month, Rowling re-affirmed her plans to leave the Harry Potter saga as is, and continue with new, different stories. Rowling’s literary agent has yet to confirm plans for her newest book.

An online networking site for readers, writers, and publishers, you can find out about other books you might choose to read with others that are into the same topics. A virtual bookshelf, the site allows you to join a group with a preferred author, post your faves, or start your own book club. You can then add to your list and embed it in your blog, website, or social networking site, and send out invitations to others. The service is now in beta and is free to join.

Is it the Media’s Fault Studio 60 Suffered?

The much-hyped Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip suffered a short season on NBC (the network that’s currently falling behind all competitors – ABC, CBS, even FOX when it comes to ratings), possibly because of tension between show creator Aaron Sorkin and the general media. Sorkin, the writer of A Few Good Men, watched (no doubt in despair) as his Studio was bashed by critics and ignored by viewers. Sure, the show’s subject matter – comedy writers – couldn’t have had anything to do with the public’s failure to connect with Studio 60. Right. Sorkin is moving on to other projects, many of them to debut on Broadway, and thank goodness. Chalk up yet another failure for NBC, the network that’s still trying to salvage its success from the 90s.
