WWE Network stress testing this week leading in to WrestleMania 30

WrestleMania 30 wwe network

The WWE Network, announced at CES 2014, went live on February 24th--and it crashed hard. The company has had about 5 weeks to fix all the issues (and not all have been fixed as of press time,) and stress test the MLBAM servers in anticipation of what many believe to be the "make or break" event for the unique live streaming service that's paired with a vast on-demand content vault.

On April 6th, WWE presents WrestleMania XXX, which will be the very first live pay-per-view event that is broadcast on the WWE Network. It just so happens to also be the biggest event of the year for pro wrestling, as WrestleMania is seen as the Super Bowl of wrestling. The company has been broadcasting live programming several times per week in order to get a handle on load, but WrestleMania is a beast all its own. To prepare, the WWE Network will be doing daily live shows this week, along with a two-hour pre-show before WrestleMania begins. We've got the full schedule of special events that'll air on the WWE Network this week, below.

Florida Citrus Bowl

Above is a view of downtown Orlando, Florida from the Citrus Bowl Stadium. This will be the home of WrestleMania XXIV in just four days. I flew in, and am now in town. If any of our readers are out here and going to the event, feel free to let us know in the comments, and we will hook up. I’ve been here in Florida for three days now, just taking in the sights. In a few days, you may even be able to find our WrestleMania thoughts here.

Wrestlemania XXIV to Be a Star-Studded Event

Snoop DoggWhen did wrestling become so hip?

Okay - I admittedly am not a fan of the ‘sport’, so when I hear something related to the letters WWE, I usually flip the channel.  But when the topic starts invading shows like Project Runway, you kind of have to take notice.

While I don’t find it surprising that and Dancing with the Stars’ Floyd Mayweather have been linked to this year’s Wrestlemania event, others names seem a bit out of place.

First off, John Legend is scheduled to perform during the March 30 Wrestlemania XXIV spectacular in Orlando.  The R&B singer, yes R&B, will get the program started with his rendition of “America the Beautiful.”  Then there’s Raven-Symone.  The star will host a ‘wish-granting event’ during that same weekend.

Disney and wrestling?  When did I become so uncool?

WWE RAW Reflections (12/3)

Jericho and Orton face offWWE Monday Night RAW opens with “Y2J” Chris Jericho in the ring doing his whole “me want title shot” schtick. Jericho replays the video of WWE Champion Randy Orton accepting Jericho’s challenge for Armageddon. Orton comes out and it’s pretty much more of the same. The two get in each others faces - threat, threat, threat - and it almost comes to blows. Of course, Regal comes out and stops them. Orton and Jericho will pick each other’s opponents for the night. It would make sense for them to make Jericho face Flair. Now, that would be a good match. Instead, Jericho will face Umaga. Orton will face off against Shawn Michaels. Not bad main events!

After the jump, three WWE legends and an “Attitude Era” tag team make surprise “returns”!

Trump Keeps His Hair After Wrestling Bet

Trump Shaves McMahon

Did you think this could go down any other way than Trump walking away with a full head of hair? If you weren’t aware of the “Battle of the Billionaires” that went down between Donald Trump and World Wrestling Entertainment owner Vince McMahon, the two had a wrestling match where the winner would keep their hair intact. Sounds kind of interesting, although neither got in the ring and did the actual fighting—they had representatives handle the “wrestling” for them. In the end, the winner was Trump, who got to shave McMahon’s head. The little stunt didn’t do too shabby either—the pay-per-view event drew mega viewership. The billionaires did manage to get in on the action a little, with Trump taking a few jabs at McMahon and Trump recieving a Stone Cold Stunner from “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. We have to wonder if bald Trump would be better than comb-over Trump though.
