The Archos 9 PC Tablet has lots of usability as well as a sleek style. It comes packed with an Intel ATOM Z515 processor, an 80 GB hard disk, 1GB of RAM upgradable to 2GB, WiFi and Bluetooth compatibility and runs Windows 7. Users can input via touchscreen, Windows keyboard or tracking mouse. When released in Europe, the miniPC will include an antenna and can receive DVBT TV signals. No pricing has yet to be announced.

Microsoft Guidelines for Marketplace Mobile

Microsoft Marketplace logoPay attention if you are trying to develop an app for Marketplace for Mobile. Microsoft has issued guidelines for what it will accept. Included on the list are applications that change Microsoft’s default browser, search or media player on a cell phone. The DP-200USB turntable doesn’t just spin your records, but also rips them to the integrated USB drive. The accompanying software (this one is XP/Vista only for now, unfortunately) features Auto Track Divide, which recognizes silence between songs and will insert a new track tab for each track, and Audio Waveform Recognition, which will analyze a track’s first 15 seconds and search Gracenote for you. Stylistically, this unit looks like something straight out of my own rec room at my parents’ house. It’s available for $250.

Windows 7 RC Out This Week

Windows 7 logoWindows 7 is on its way. The RC is in the final stages of being released for program developers and IT pros on April 30, while the masses will have to wait until May 5. There is no word yet when it will come preloaded on PCs or available in shops but the estimate is July. Windows 7 should be easier to swallow than Vista with its new touchsceen functions and interaction with digital cameras and PMPs.

Conficker to Come Out April 1?

WormWe have mentioned Conficker before and how Microsoft is seeking help to find the source. Apparently, it is still unaccounted for and there may be a serious problem as of April 1. The program turns off security settings in Microsoft Windows and the fear is that infected computers may contact a control system on that date. Dan Kaminsky, a consultant for IOActive, says that it might go after corporate networks, especially if they run older Window versions.
