Fabrican Spray-on clothing

Scientists at the Imperial College London have devised a way for you to give your clothes that authentic skin tight look that seems to be all the rage these days, with a product called Fabrican. With a simple spray can that looks like any old aerosol can, you will be able to spray a shirt directly onto your body. The amazing aspect of it all is the fact that the material is actually a cotton/polyester/plastic blend that dries up and can be removed from the skin in a non messy fashion. You can even wash it after you take it off and wear it again. We’ve got video of Fabrican in action after the jump.

Necky: The neck Snuggie. Please, no.

Please, someone explain to me why you’d need a Necky, because I am just not seeing it. What is wrong with the regular clothes that we already have, and have used for generations? Why do you need a chestplate that is fashioned out of cheap cloth to stay warm in the winter? Huh?? Answer me!! It’s a scarf, not a freaking bow tie. Learn how to wear one, Necky enthusiasts!

Will Alsop has been designing buildings and public spaces in chic European locales for decades - Hamburg, Marseilles and London to name a few. Recently he has begun lending his designing eye to Alessi, an Italian design firm responsible for a wide range of products too high-end and/or cerebral for me to understand much less afford.

One thing that I do understand, though, is my need for ironic/retro kitsch - and nothing says retro kitsch quite like a neon green polygonal watch. If you are looking for something cool and ergonomic that reminds you a bit of the 80’s yet don’t want to wave your nerd-flag too high with calculator watch then this is the timepiece for you. At $118.48 (83 Euro) it is a small price to pay for a modernized piece of your childhood… if you were a child in the 80’s. Wow, having to preface that makes me feel old. Now where is my Prince - Purple Rain concert t-shirt?

We are fans of Tokyoflash watches, mostly because they “get” the tech lifestyle, and you can see it embodied in their work. We think they’ve gone aboev and beyond with their latest Independent collection, which featured four uniquely stylish watches. However, to us, the Independent ITX21-5132 is just downright awesome. The design features a sphere cut crystal glass face, stainless steel band, and even has a hidden LCD digital display underneath the analog dial.

So, we’ve shown you quite a bit as it relates to SCOTTeVEST products in the past. Overall, we’ve been generally impressed with how the company is able to make clothing that is both fashionable and convenient for those of us who carry around way too many gadgets. In this episode of Bleeding Edge TV, we take a look at a couple of SCOTTeVEST Performance Shirts. These shirts draw moisture from your body, as they are made from a special lightweight fabric given the Cool Comfort treatment. As with all SCOTTeVEST products, the shirts feature the Personal Area Network (PAN) that lets you string your cords through the innards of the clothing, rather than having them dangle externally. Ok, this writer is just going to admit it: in addition to goofy USB items and off-kilter (or useful) iPod docks, she has developed an obsession with anything recently retro, waxing nostalgic about doo-dads that remind her of the 70s or 80s. Case in point: Rockza’s Space Invaders Bag, made of PVC (translation: faux leather), and decorated with rows of the scurrying aliens. Oddly missing are the four protective “shelter blocks” and cannon, but we’ll let it go. Unfortunately, the bag is only available in Korea for 42,000 Korean Won ($45 USD). But let’s hope the trend comes stateside, as we think a Centipede version would look really cool, in a geeky sort of way.

Whether you grew up on the now-campy “Wonder Woman” TV series, read the DC comic or just a fan of Diana Prince’s all that-ness, we’ve got something for you. Yes, it’s the Wonder Woman bracelet! Dark Side Watches Unveiled

Tokyoflash has told Gear Live that they have two new black and blue Limited Edition watches that still take a bit of deciphering to read. The LEDs feature time, date, and day of the week and have auto-light activation possible every fifteen minutes between 6 p.m. and midnight to remind you that it is way past your bedtime. The timepieces have a stainless steel band and run on two lithium batteries. Getting your own piece of the “Dark Side” will cost you 21,900 ($180.62) and ¥15,900 ($131.13) respectively.
