Casio Bluetooth 4.0 G-Shock ready to roll
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Accessories, Smartphones, Wearables, Wireless / WiFi,
Casio's Bluetooth 4.0 G-Shock has hit the FCC, and we now know that aside from packing the latest and greatest in short-range wireless tech, it's also shock- and water-resistant as well, and may even be solar powered. Bluetooth connectivity will allow you to get call details right on the watch when your phone is ringing, but should also allow you to silence calls and even pull alarm settings into the watch itself. Since Bluetooth 4.0 has a low energy profile, the watch should last about two years on a single battery. Look for it to drop as soon as more phones with Bluetooth 4.0 are released.

A-DATA SH93 super-rugged portable hard drive
Posted by Mark Rollins Categories: Design, Storage,
I’m not in the habit of keeping my portable hard drives next to the bathtub, but if I did, the SH93 from A-DATA would be a legitimate contender. These new portable HDDs can last up to 30 minutes when plunged into one meter of water. And hey, not only is it water-resistant, but it’s durable in other ways. The rubberized coating can survive the military MIL-STD-810F drop test, so you know it’s solid, right?
No word on pricing or availability as yet, but they will come in a red or yellow finish in memory capacities of 240, 320, 500, and 640GB.

Watch Doubles as Remote
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Home Entertainment, Misc. Tech,
Never worry about a lost remote again. Next time you are thinking that you need to replace your watch, you might consider the SL-2020 TV Remote Control Watch. The timepiece displays time in a 12/24 hour format with alarm, is a 1/1000 stopwatch, keeps track of all time zones, and can control hundreds of different TVs, VCRs, and DVD players. Water resistant, it works up to a distance of 3 to 5 meters, with the puny price of $12.50.
(Thanks, Cassily)

The Water-Resistant Teardrop-Shaped MP3 Speaker
Posted by Lolita Beckwith Categories: Accessories, Design, Smart Home, Music, Portable Audio / Video,
There are already a number of water-resistant MP3 docks and speakers out there. But this is the coolest-looking one we’ve seen in quite awhile. It’s the TearDrop iPod Water-Resistant Bathroom Speaker. Shaped as…yep…a teardrop, the speaker holds any MP3 player smaller than 2.55W” x 4.17H” x .78D” (or, in iPod-speak, the nano or shuffle). Futuristic-yet-mod-looking for all-around coolness, and there’s a built-in headphone jack for personal use. Plus, the speaker is battery-operated, so you can show it off outdoors. Unfortunately, the website doesn’t indicate which type of battery, or how many. Available in 3 colors, for $58 USD.
