Mini Episode Introduces Warrior Doctor Ahead of 50th ‘Dr. Who’

There can never be too many promotional videos/mini episodes/prequels/extra shenanigans/etc. of Doctor Who.

With less than two weeks from the premiere of the special 50th anniversary episode of the sci-fi BBC series, titled "The Day of the Doctor," showrunner Steven Moffat releases a mini episode in order to connect the Eighth Doctor (Paul McGann) with John Hurt's "Warrior" incarnation.

(Spoilers after the jump - check it out the video above!)

VIDEO: See Russell Crowe in First ‘Noah’ Trailer

Hollywood gets Biblical with Darren Aronofsky's upcoming Russell Crowe vehicle Noah, and all I can say is that they seem to have gone overboard with the CGI.

From the looks of the trailer - which sees Crowe sporting a lumberjack beard and an ark that looks more like a wooden shipping container than an actual ship - Aronofsky has basically made a Passion of the Christ version of The Day After Tomorrow. Perhaps this is why Christian and Jewish audiences haven't received the film well at early test screenings - one Christian writer, Brian Godawa, got a hold of the script and went so far as to brand it dissapointing, "manipulative narcissistic nonsense." The director - whose last film Black Swan earned one Oscar and four other Oscar nods - has been unsurprisingly dismissive of the studio's concerns over the test screenings.

VIDEO: First ‘Maleficent’ Trailer Unveiled

It's about time! Nearly a year and a half after the first photos leaked of filming at Buckinghamshire, Disney has finally released the first trailer for their live-action tale of Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent, which stars Angelina Jolie as the eponymous villainess fairy.

If you can hear past Elle Fanning's weird accent (is she supposed to sound English?) as the ill-fated Princess Aurora, the film looks promisingly like a fun fairy tale mash-up of The Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones. The teaser also offers a quick glimpse of Jolie's real life daughter Vivienne's film debut as a younger Princess Aurora. Of course, one look at Jolie's badass horns, piercing green eyes, and I-bet-you-can-cut-someone-with-those cheekbones, and you're likely checking your calendar to see how many days are left until the film hits theaters on May 30 next year. Am I right?

Lily Allen Slams Double Standards in Comeback Song

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Gossip, Music Videos, Pop, New Releases,

Lily AllenLily Allen has hit back at music industry double standards in her comeback song, "Hard Out Here."

The 28-year-old pop star has re-emerged after a four-year hiatus from music and taken aim at the way female singers are treated compared to their male counterparts in the lyrics and music video for her new single.

The video (seen after the jump) sees Lily - who has had two children, 23-month-old Ethel and 10-month-old Marnie in recent years - undergo liposuction at the behest of her manager in order to look thin and glamorous after her break from music. Elsewhere in the clip, the singer mocks raunchy music videos as a troupe of scantily clad dancers writhe around behind her, pour champagne over their breasts and shake their posteriors.

Lily also appears to poke fun at singer Miley Cyrus as she attempts to twerk. The song's lyrics, meanwhile, see the sharp-tongued songstress point out the sexist double standards in the music industry: "If I talk about my sex life, you'll call me a s**t / When boys be talking about their bitches, no one's making a fuss." Later in the chorus, she blasts, "Forget your balls and grow a pair of t*ts / It's hard, it's hard out here for a bitch."

VIDEO: Miley Cyrus Covers Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness”

Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Performances, Videos, Alternative, Covers, Pop,

With her controversial award show performances and shocking fashions, it's easy to forget that Miley Cyrus can actually sing.

The former Disney star covered Lana Del Rey's "Summertime Sadness" for BBC Radio 1, putting a slight country pop spin to the tune. Although Cyrus sounds great on the track, it would've been nice to hear her stray a little farther from Del Rey's original version of the song. Hopefully Del Rey inspires her new work - it's definitely more interesting to hear her belting out notes like this compared to her current material!

Finally, an Official Trailer for 50th Anniversary ‘Doctor Who’

Allons-y! The official trailer for Doctor Who's 50th anniversary special is finally out, and although it doesn't really give much away, it will definitely please fans of the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant).

In addition to showing Ten uttering his trademark French line, fans catch a glimpse of the banter between Ten and his successor: "Oh, you've redecorated! I don't like it," Ten tells Eleven (Matt Smith) in regards to the T.A.R.D.I.S. interior design. There's also some quick shots of the pair comparing their sonic screwdrivers and realizing they have similar taste in eyeglasses.

Quote of the Day: Stephen Colbert on Breaking Character

Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Comedy, Talk Shows, Cable, Internet, News, Video,

"I read that and I loved it and we'd gone through rehearsal and I could barely breathe in rehearsal and when we got to the show, I honestly thought that I would be fine. It seemed like if I take a breath first [it would be ok]…'and of course his mother,' and before the 'M' even came out of my mouth I'm like, 'I'm done. I'm just done.'"

- Stephen Colbert recalls a rare moment when he broke character and laughed at the pronunciation of Munchma Quchi, the mother of Suq Madiq, an Arab-American viewer who had recently donated to his Super Pac.

VIDEO: The Doctor Loves Hashtags

The upcoming Doctor Who 50th anniversary special -The Day of the Doctor - is around the corner, and folks over at the BBC gave fans a little Eleventh Doctor treat via YouTube.

In the quasi-PSA aimed at ensuring viewers raise as much online buzz about the show as possible, Eleven (Matt Smith, sporting a nice wig after having had to shed his locks for his role in Ryan Gosling's How to Catch a Monster) urges fans to embrace hashtags. He also recommends putting hashtags on your kittens - which was apparently a thing until "a bizarre incident with a chicken put an end to them all."

Tune in to BBC America for The Day of the Doctor, which premieres on November 30.

Watch Ron Burgandy’s PSA on Piracy

If regular anti-piracy ads featuring real people working behind the camera don't convince you to avoid stealing entertainment, perhaps Anchorman 2's fictional Ron Burgandy (Will Ferrell) will.

In the latest trailer for the highly-anticipated sequel (seen above), Burgandy offers a special report regarding their "evening's entertainment." When he realizes that the announcement is referring to film, he becomes outraged over defending "that shimmering pretender to television's crown."

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues hits theaters December 20.

VIDEO: Watch Britney’s Cute/Weird ‘Thriller’-Esque Video

Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Videos, Pop,

In the spirit of Halloween, Britney Spears teamed up with British TV personality Nick Grimshaw to put out the above video, "It's Britney Witch!" (in case you've forgotten about her colorful lyrics, the title is a play on the first line from her "Gimme More" song).

Short and sweet, the pop star recites the opening lines from Michael Jackson's legendary "Thriller" video in a faux-British accent while propped against various "spooky" green screen backdrops. Although it's quite silly, it's great to see Britney enjoying herself (I mean, have you seen any of her interviews over the past few years?) and not feeling obligated to be sexy.
