Monday Ratings: Jay Leno Tanks Against Repeat

Could it really get any worse than this? Although the program faced a CBS repeat, The Jay Leno Show did the unthinkable last night: it went down. The talk show went so far down, it hit a season low in the demos. ABC, in the meantime, took advantage of the decreased competition and scored wins in both the viewers and the demos this Monday.

(Make sure to check out TV Envy’s Programming Schedule.)

MONDAY (10/26)
  • Heroes (NBC, 8pm):  “Claire and Gretchen go through hazing, but they’ve got other problems facing them.” They could just be blackballed from the entire network.
  • Trauma (NBC, 9pm):  “Tyler and Boone are called to a Halloween party that has gone haywire.” Every year, someone takes “Dead Man’s Party” literally.
  • Gossip Girl (CW, 9pm):  “Elsewhere, Dan is rattled when he watches one of Olivia’s on-screen sex scenes.” No one wants to think about Lizzie Maguire having sex.

Monday Ratings: CBS Edges Past FOX

Even though House was still hot with the 18-49s, it got little help from Lie to Me. FOX came in a close second to CBS last night in the demos while ABC was on top with the viewers.

Monday Ratings: Trauma Needs Assistance

NBC needs some help, stat! Yesterday’s series premiere of Trauma did nothing for the Peacock network’s health on Mondays. The medical drama pulled in numbers smaller than last fall’s stinker, My Own Worst Enemy. By night’s end, ABC was on top with the viewers while FOX was 1st in the demos.

MONDAY (9/28)

  • Unwrapped (FOOD, 9pm):  “The making of bacon ice cream at Delaware s Woodside Farm Creamery.” Hot bacon sundaes can be topped off with bacon bits and/or bacon grease.
  • CSI: Miami (CBS, 10pm):  “The lab is attacked and new CSI Jesse Cardoza is taken hostage along with four other people.” Unfortunately, the newbie wasn’t eligible for his hostage compensation benefits yet.

NBC Orders 6 New Shows

NBC Logo

has ordered a very ambitious lineup for the 2009-2010 fall season. The network is rounding out their programming with four brand-new dramas and two never-before-seen comedies.

and Brian Grazer are producing Parenthood, a series based on the film they did together decades ago. Peter Krause, Maura Tierney, Craig T. Nelson, Bonnie Bedelia and Erika Christensen are among the cast. The drama/comedy will explore life with kids…if NBC viewers aren’t already getting enough of that as it is.

Trauma, one of NBC’s new medical dramas, focuses on first-response paramedics (and already sounds doomed). The series is set in San Francisco and stars Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Aimee Garcia and others.

Jury Duty Can Result in Stress Related Disorders

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Science,

JuryHave you ever gotten depressed after serving jury duty? Psychologists at the University of Leicester in the UK claim that doing so can result in trauma for those who serve. They pinpointed witnessing harrowing and/or gruesome evidence related to crimes against people could result in anxiety, clinical levels of stress or even symptoms of PTSD. Dr. Noelle Robertson and colleagues say that women are most vulnerable and that a lot of it occurs because jurors are not allowed to talk about the case. The study was conducted on a small scale and the report suggests more support for jurors and making sure that they did not have similar past experiences.
