Sure, we've given you a list of our top 10 most popular stories of 2012, but we figured we'd go a bit more broad than that. We also thought it would be interesting to give you a look at the top ten most read stories on this site this year, period, regardless of what year they were posted. We must say, we're just as surprised as you are at what did (and didn't) make the list! For example, you guys seem to really like Monster's Beats by Dr. Dre audio line. Here we go:

Star Wars/Disney jokes were old the second the deal for Disney to acquire Lucasfilm was announced, but that won’t stop anyone, especially me.
A meme went around on Facebook earlier this week started by screenwriter William Martell. What are the best/worst Disney/Star Wars movies?
I joined in, thinking what a great idea, and then so I didn’t monopolize the thread, I started keeping my thoughts to myself to share them here because I can.

What’s the biggest comic book coming out this year? Is it Before Watchmen? AvsX? My Little Pony? Nope, the most exciting news out of comics this year is that The Situation, the gym-tan-laundry rehabbing co-star of Jersey Shore, is putting out his own comic book, called, simply, The Situation.
Not many details have been released about it yet, other than that fell behind schedule. After debuting his comic in September on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Situation will show it off at Wizard World Austin on October 27.
Our imbedded industry spies have revealed to Comix 411 that a number of new characters will be making their first appearance in the first issue. How many? At least 10 (coindence... or not?) Here, then, are the Top 10 new characters featured in The Situation’s upcoming comic:

Top 10: Arrow On The CW

Are you looking forward to Arrow as much as any other comic book or archery fan?
It debuts October 10 on the CW. Arrow is loosely-based on Green Arrow, the venerable and outspoken liberal DC Comics' super-hero blessed with the powers of a longbow.
The mark of any successful show is whether or not fans can start quoting favorite lines like they do for Monty Python, The Simpsons and, of course, Mike And Molly.
Our spies at Comix 411 were able to get a copy of the script for the first episode and gave it an immediate reading to see what dialogue gems lurked inside. What we found are 10 sample dialogue snippets from Arrow that we’re hoping will catch on as easily as Monty Python’s “It’s just a flesh wound,” The Simpsons’ “Batman was a scientist” and Mike And Molly’s “You gonna eat that?”

Mountain Lion has been out for a couple of days, available for just $19.99 on the Mac App Store. Judging by our server logs, many of you have already upgraded to the latest Apple OS. For those still on the fence about what exactly you're getting for your Jackson, we figured we'd explain the top user-facing features of OS X 10.8. Sure, Apple is touting that Mountain Lion includes over 200 new features, but redesigned scroll bars are hardly anything to get excited about. The Situation Makes A Comic Book

My Name Is…Shazam!

As you may have already heard, DC Comics is changing the name of Captain Marvel, a superhero who dates from the 1940s.
He’ll now be officially called by his magic word: Shazam! That’s the word that changes poor red-shirted newsboy Billy Batson into the fully-grown Captain Marvel.
That’s the equivalent of changing the name of Superman to “Up, Up And Away!” but DC says it has to be done. There’s confusion in the marketplace since Marvel Comics also has a Captain Marvel of their own.
Marvel’s Captain Marvel was created after DC Comics sued the original Captain Marvel’s publishers (Fawcett) and drove them out of business, leaving a Captain Marvel void in comics. Years later, DC acquired the rights to the Fawcett Captain Marvel, which they could publish, but only under the Shazam! name so as not to compete with Marvel’s trademark. The internal combustion engine saved the horse in the 1900s, and hybrid cars were supposed to save the automobile in the 2000s (nice try, Prius.) Now there’s a new savior in town--well, actually, there are a few.

Top 10 Changes In Superman Reboot

There are those in the industry who track these kinds of things who believe that DC Comics has been making significant changes to the Superman character over the years in a continuing effort to thwart claims by the estates of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster about the character.
A good place to start with this story is at Comics Beat.
With DC’s newest relaunch/reboot/do-over of their universe this fall, they are making more changes to Superman, and it's not just his costume or his fresh L'il Abner look. A lot of the changes won't be clear until you actually read Action Comics #1, on sale September 7. I've read that first issue, and here are the Top Ten changes to Superman's mythology.
