2010-11 Midseason Television Programming Schedule


A new year means a new TV schedule.

This week, we’ll see a number of familiar faces returning to primetime. On Monday, Brad Womack will play The Bachelor for a second time on ABC. The following day, Paula Abdul will come back to reality television with while Jane Badler will once again be featured in a series titled V.

As you will see from the schedule, Hellcats won’t be the only show airing on a new day. The Defenders will move to Fridays as will . Meanwhile, NBC has shuffled its Thursday night comedy lineup around.

We hope our detailed guide -- with information from the five major networks -- can assist you in the weeks to come. We’ve included the days, times and return/premiere dates for the midseason programs.

Annie Awards: 2010 Nominations

Sym-Bionic TitanASIFA-Hollywood announced their nominations for the 38th Annual Annie Awards this past week.

The essential animation blog, Cartoon Brew, has a complete list of the nominations.

A couple of people with comic book connections popped up on the list of nominees.

Stephen DeStefano, artist on Lucky In Love from Fantagraphics, is up for Character Design in a Television Production for his work on the Cartoon Network series Sym-Bionic Titan.

Phil Hester and Andy Kuhn’s Image Comic Firebreather, the Cartoon Network original movie that aired at the end of November, got itself two nominations. In the category Production Design in a Television Production, Barry Jackson is one of the nominees. In the category Directing in a Television Production, director Peter Chung was nominated as well.

MONDAY (11/29)

  • 90210 (CW, 8 P.M.): "Dixon and Annie sign Debbie up for online dating, but she ends up with Ryan during a date." The dating pool in their zip code is surprisingly small.
  • Giuliana & Bill (Style, 10 P.M.): "Giuliana encourages her niece to be a model and the encounter rekindle's Giuliana's desire to become a mom." She never quite understood the whole 'Stage Mom' thing until now.
  • Hoarders (A&E, 10 P.M.): "A husband sleeps in his car because his wife's hoarding is so bad that he has no room in the house." The first husband in is the first husband squeezed out.

  • How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8 p.m.): "The friends learn more about Robin's past as Canadian teen star , and they encourage her to reunite with her former costar, Jessica Glitter." The reunion will spark the return of another old frenemy: Becky Bedazzle.
  • Two and a Half Men (CBS, 9 p.m.): "Berta takes a few days off and Charlie falls for the woman who replaces her." He often feels attracted to women he pays.
  • Hoarders (A&E, 10 p.m.): "A man threatens his wife with divorce if she doesn't clean." She panicked when he said he would leave her with the assets.

  • Rules of Engagement (CBS, 8:30 p.m.): "Jeff and Adam invent a game involving the heads of mannequins." The episode will feature special appearances by Andrew McCarthy and Kim Cattrall.
  • The Women of SNL (NBC, 9 p.m.): "The spotlight shines on the female performers of Saturday Night Live in a showcase that features memorable past sketches and original skits." Shouldn't Lorne Michaels be focused on making one show a week good?
  • Mario Lopez: Saved by the Baby (VH1, 10:30 p.m.): Series premiere. "Mario's girfriend Courtney Mazza is pregnant, and the couple prepare for parenthood. In the opener, the baby is three months away, and Mario hasn't quite grasped becoming a daddy." He's still trying to figure out that moment when he slipped up.

Sunday Ratings: NBC Tops Premieres with Football

ABC had Vanessa Williams, FOX had an hour-long Family Guy and CBS had a must-see watermelon mishap – but those three networks were missing one important thing: football. The gridiron action in Miami was hot enough to win both the demos and viewers for NBC.

Season premieres: Castle, Chase, Chuck, Dancing with the Stars, The Event, Hawaii Five-0, House, How I Met Your Mother, Lone Star, Mike & Molly, Rachael Ray, Rules of Engagement, Two and a Half Men

  • How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8 p.m.):  “In the sixth season opener, Ted runs into Cindy (Rachel Bilson), whom he dated briefly—and who is also the roommate of his future wife.” He heard from a little bird (a.k.a. Twitter) that she wasn’t with Hayden Christensen anymore.
  • Chuck (NBC, 8 p.m.):  “Season 4 opens with Chuck engaging in a sweeping quest to find his mother (Linda Hamilton), all while keeping the rogue mission a secret from his sister.” The only clue he has to work with is the fading Polaroid picture John Conner gave him.
  • Two and a Half Men (CBS, 9 p.m.):  “In the eighth-season opener, Charlie this it’s time to cut back on his drinking.” His judge He also thinks it would be smart to film a PSA.
