Stephen Baldwin Arrested Over $350K Tax Bill

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Movies, Legal Issues, Rumors,

Stephen BaldwinStephen Baldwin has been arrested over an alleged unpaid $350,000 tax bill.

The 46-year-old actor is accused of failing to pay income tax in Rockland County, 15 miles northwest of Manhattan, for the years 2008, 2009 and 2010 and was bailed pending a February 2013 court appearance.

Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe told the New York Daily News, "At a time when Rockland County and New York State face severe fiscal shortfalls, we cannot afford to allow wealthy residents to break the law by cheating on their taxes. The defendant's repetitive failure to file returns and pay taxes over a period of several years contributes to the sweeping cutbacks and closures in local government and in our schools."

The arrest comes six months after a court rejected born-again Christian Stephen's claim that he and a friend missed out on a lucrative contract with oil company BP thanks to Kevin Costner and his business partner in oil cleanup, Patrick Smith.

General Motors officially opposes Washington State Electric Vehicle Tax

washington state senate bill 5251

GM went on the record opposing Governor Christine Gregoire on Senate Bill 5251. For those of you not familiar with the bill, it would impose a $100 annual tax on electric vehicle owners to make up for lost revenue not paid in gas taxes.

GM’s Regional Director Howard Lenox, Jr. wrote "A fee which singles out electric vehicles will be a disincentive to the growth of the electric vehicle market in Washington State. As a practical matter, there are so few vehicles on Washington's roads today that their impact in replacing fuel tax revenues will, for now, be negligible."

Now, we understand where the Lenox is coming from, but has he sat through 405 traffic in the morning? Seattle area traffic is some of the worst in the nation. The bill is supposed to generate $1.9 million dollars in lost revenue by 2017. However,  it's still subject to approval by Washington state voters. It’s reported that Arizona, Oregon, and Kansas are among other states to pass similar bills.

How about you? Would you oppose or support Senate Bill 5251? Leave your answers in the comments letting us know!

Dolce and Gabbana to be fined for tax evasion?

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers, News,

Dolce and Gabbana fineDomenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana could be facing a fine of $1.2 million. The designers’ finances have come under investigation following the sale of the Dolce and Gabbana and D and G brands to their Luxemburg-based company Gado Sri. Italy’s excise and revenue police have now confirmed their recommendation is for the duo to be charged with tax evasion and abuse of rights and suggested the massive fine.

Investigators allege Gado is a legal entity set up to avoid higher tax rates in Italy, but the duo insist they have paid all taxes relating to the sale and that figures mentioned by the police are “completely abstract”. The designers said: “We will tell the 3,800 employees of the companies, which compose the group, that we have paid all that was due and that we will strenuously defend ourselves to avoid being unjustly forced to pay for something that never existed in the first place. This higher taxable sum is a virtual figure we have never received, the result of a theoretical accounting exercise.”

Global Warming

Why do people believe politicians when they talk about things other than politics? Why are the only scientists that say the earth is warming, the only ones getting government grants? I wish people would realize that this “Global Warming” is nothing more than a scam to collect more taxes.

You Cannot Multiply Wealth By Dividing It

How great does this quote by the late Baptist pastor, Adrian Rogers, relate to what our government is trying to do? I wish people weren’t so uninformed.

You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation.
