Rumor: Foxconn is making the Apple Tablet

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Handhelds, Rumors

Apple Tablet

You’ll definitely wanna file this one under “rumor,” but if DigiTimes is to be believed, that that we’ve all been waiting for with baited breath will be manufactured by Foxconn. The peeps at DigiTimes are saying that Foxconn will be shipping up to 400,000 devices by April 2010, and that these devices will have a 10.6-inch display.

Hey, it’s fun monitoring these rumors, but I’m tired of having my emotions played with, Apple. Give me a touch-sensitive tablet next in the first quarter of 2010, okay?

Fujitsu LifeBook T5010 tablet

has decided it best to put a touchscreen LCD on their T5010, and we’ve got to commend them for it. The LifeBook T5010 has a 13.3 inch screen, and supports two-finger multitouch. Once launches, this’ll ship with the new OS, taking advantage of the built-in touch features. Until then, it ships with Windows Vista - definitely wait for the Windows 7 version to drop next month.  It will cost $1,759 for the active digitizer, and $1,859 with dual digitizer.

CrunchPad Mobile Web Tablet Dropping For Under $300

CrunchPad

The CrunchPad, a mobile web tablet that is completely optimized for web usage, seems to be on the verge of coming to fruition. Bits reports that, according to Mike Arrington, we should expect an official announcement sometime this month, or next month, and that the CrunchPad will be available “as soon as possible.” As it turns out, Mike Arrington, the man behind TechCrunch, has been spending about two-thirds of him time working on the CrunchPad over the last six months alongside a 15-person team from Fusion Garage.

The CrunchPad is an Intel Atom-powered touchscreen tablet, aimed at letting you use the Internet comfortably from it’s 12-inch screen. There is no keyboard (although, you can plug one in) and no mouse. In the simplest terms, you can think of it as a large, 12-inch that only runs Safari. Except the CrunchPad also supports Flash. The best part, though, is that this device will cost under $300. A 12-inch WebKit-based tablet device, for under $300? Sign me up.

Bleeding Edge TV 274: A Look Into the Future with HP’s Phil McKinney

At HP’s event in Berlin, Germany, we caught up with the CTO of HP’s Public Systems Group, Phil McKinney, who had some very interesting things to say about where HP believes the future will take us.

Phil talked with us about what’s coming in the future of technology - everything from wearable computing to a very advanced “avatar” that is programmed to make decisions just like you would, only you can send it to a meeting while you get to go play video games. We look forward to seeing what the future holds. Thanks Phil!
