Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Music, Child Stars,

Braison and Miley CyrusMiley Cyrus' brother nearly died after a tonsillectomy.

Braison, 18, had his tonsils removed on July 5 and was released from the hospital, but his horrified mother Tish Cyrus has revealed he started haemorrhaging over a week later and doctors struggled to save him.

"After five kids I have seen it all. But I had never seen anything like this. It was just crazy. They did it in a surgery center and released him. The doctor said everything went great and sent us home. And then on the seventh day after surgery he had some bleeding. It scared him but it wasn't a lot. I called the doctor and spoke to a nurse. They said it was totally normal, just scabs coming off and there will be some bleeding, and said don't panic. But if there is a steady stream of blood that is not normal. Then on day nine he woke himself up because he felt something running down his throat."

Julia Roberts is Protective of Adele

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Movies, Music,

AdeleJulia Roberts has issued a strong warning to any man wishing to date Adele. The Pretty Woman actress is a huge fan of the "Someone Like You" singer and has threatened to harm her next boyfriend if her treats her badly.

"Anybody that's going to date her is a brave, brave man. You're going to get a whole lot of love, but you'd better treat her right, or we're all coming after you," she told Entertainment Weekly. Julia says the reason Adele, 23, has become a worldwide star is because people can relate to her and the pain and heartache she's going through: "Adele's music is so personal that you get invested in her life. When Adele had her health scare, I had random people saying to me, 'Oh my God, did you hear about Adele?' We feel like Adele's in our book club or she lives near us - that's a gift, to make people feel that way."

Meanwhile, Adele - who recently underwent throat surgery - has revealed she is going to take a couple of years to work on her third album, following the huge success of 19 and 21. "I imagine I'll be 25 or 26 by the time my next record comes out, as I haven't even thought about my third record yet. I'm just going to lay some concrete, set up home and just be for a bit. I'll disappear and come back with a record when it's good enough."

While the 51-year-old star was released from hospital in Fort Myers, Florida, this morning after the surgery was deemed a success, he was rushed almost straight back to the emergency room with a bacterial infection.

"When Michael went back to the rehab center he was running a really high fever, so he went directly back to the hospital. He's in the emergency room now," his friend Tom Murro told RadarOnline.com.

Once the former Wall Street trader's condition is stable, it is thought he will return to his court-ordered treatment facility, where he is currently participating in an anger-management intervention scheme after pleading no contest to four domestic violence charges against former fiancee Kate Major.

Giuliana Rancic to Undergo Double Mastectomy

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Television,

Giuliana Rancic and her husbandGiuliana Rancic is to undergo a double mastectomy. The E! News presenter - who revealed she was suffering from the early stages of breast cancer in October - has decided to opt for the procedure after a double lumpectomy failed to fully remove cancerous growths in both breasts and her lymph nodes.

"To be honest, all it came down to was choosing to live and not looking over my shoulder for the rest of my life. It could have come back more aggressively next time, so for me it was just more important to get the cancer out. With the double mastectomy I now have less than one per cent chance of getting it back, otherwise it was 20, 30 or 40 per cent chance and for me it wasn't worth it," she explained on The Today Show.

The 36-year-old star - who made a pros and cons list to decide whether to undergo the procedure - also praised her entrepreneur husband Bill, admitting her cancer battle has made the couple stronger: "Bill said to me, 'I just need you around for the next 50 years, kid. I don't care about the physical portion of this, so let's just get you healthy.' Bill's been the world to me through this, he brought some laughter to the process and reminded me who we are as a couple. It's made us stronger. I couldn't be more at peace with the decision. I still break down some nights when it's quiet in bed, it's easy to just start crying and be very sad, but I'm OK."

World’s first all-robotic surgery

Posted by John Kilhefner Categories: Science,

The world’s first operation and anesthesia done by an all robot team was conducted at Canada’s McGill University Health Centre. The operation being one of extreme delicateness, a prostatectomy, was handled by two robots: DaVinci, a surgical robot, and McSleepy, an anesthetic robot. Both of whom were controlled by a team of surgeons from a workstation with 3D HD video control.

The robots allowed the team of surgeons to work with a precision not capable of by humans alone, allowing for a more precise and safe operation. The surgical team is planning to use this project to test more all-robotic surgery and anesthesia routines on more patients in different surgical situations. We are assured that the robots will not replace the doctors, but will only augment the surgical team to perform to their highest capabilities.
