Xbox Music set to launch on October 26th alongside Windows 8

Xbox Music has hit the Xbox 360 consoles of beta users, and now we are hearing that the fill service rollout is set for October 26th, just three weeks from now, and the same day that Windows 8 is released. Reportedly, the rollout will begin with the Xbox 360, Windows 8, and Windows Phone, with iOS and Android Xbox Music apps coming soon after. Smart. The service will have a paid subscription, as well as a free, ad-supported option as well.

Remember that $99 Xbox 360 Kinect bundle we mentioned last week? Well, Microsoft has just launched it. You can now buy a 4 GB Xbox 360 with Kinect sensor for $99 with two-year Xbox Live Gold contract, paying $14.99 per month for the course of the agreement. If you cancel early, you'll pay an early termination fee, which starts at $250 and decreases each month after the third month. Just head on over to your local Microsoft Store to make it happen.

In its neverending quest to get the Xbox 360 to be the entertainment hub of as many living rooms as possible, it appears that Microsoft has come up with a new tactic to move units. The Verge is reporting that the company is set to launch a new 4 GB Xbox 360 Kinect bundle that'll cost just $99. The catch? You'll have to agree to a two-year contract at $15 per month, giving you access to Xbox Live Gold service, and possibly other streaming features (maybe the rumored music service set to launch at E3?) It's certainly an interesting move that hasn't been tested before, which could be why the report claims that the specially-priced bundle will only be available in US Microsoft Stores.

Sirius XM App Finally Released

Sirius XM has finally released its app to subscribers that allows 120 channels. Many favorites will be available such as The Grateful Dead Channel, Eminem’s Shade 45 and Radio Margaritaville, while others like Howard Stern, MLB Play-by-Play and NFL Play-by-Play will not. A 7-day trial is available, but then a subscription is needed as well as iPhone OS 2.0 or later firmware. Current customers can use the app if their package includes online access. You can download the Sirius XM app now.

Kindle Encourages Bloggers to Join Subscription Service

Amazon has unveiled its new beta program that will pay bloggers for turning them into Kindle subscriptions. Although it already offers many of them, the company wants to move the content to the home screen. Subscriptions will run from $.99 to $2.00 per month. Bloggers don’t pay any fees, but Amazon sets the price as well as keeping 70% of the price. Still, if you want new readers and pocket change, this might be an option for your blog.

NY Times Reader 2.0 on Adobe Air

The New York Times is offering a free application of its paper that contains a few sections such as the cover and Business Day. The Times Reader 2.0 is built on Adobe AIR, updates, keeps up to 7 days of content at a time and is compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux. Subscribe for $14.95 a month for the entire paper. Those who already subscribe to the paper get free access. The Reader is a good idea for saving money on both ends (a paper subscription costs $40.00 a month) unless you get it for the crossword puzzles.

Acer Netbook Price Drop

Acer Netbook Acer has announced that they are offering their blue or pink 8.9-inch Netbook with built-in AT&T Mobility Broadband for only $79.00 with a new 2-year commitment with plans at $60.00 a month or more. The netbook, which can be found at RadioShack, has a CrystalBrite LED backlit LCD screen with 1024x600 resolution, 1GB memory, 160GB hard drive, Intel Atom processor, WiFi, WiMAX and 3G wireless access, 3 USB ports and Windows XP.

Sirius XM Creates App

iPhone Sirius XM, in a valiant effort to stay afloat, is launching an app for iPhone and iPod touch users to access the satellite radio service. Expected out in Q2, no extra equipment is needed to access the content for new subscribers. Although no specific price was mentioned, the company said it would be available to their 19 million regular subscribers as well as the 7 million U.S. iPhone users. This is good news for the beleaguered company since it has lost sales from automobiles and those who just cannot afford the luxury of the music service.

Palm Treo Pro Out March 15

Palm and Sprint have announced that the Treo Pro will be available on March 15. You can get one at any Sprint outlet or online for $199.99 and a two year subscription after a $100.00 mail-in and $100.00 instant rebate. You also have to get their Everything Plan or a $30.00 per month or higher add-on. If you believe you can handle that kind of monetary commitment, your wait for the smartphone is only a couple of weeks away.

Facebook Returns to Original TOS After Complaints

After an entire Facebook group complained about their new policy change that inferred that the site would have control of their users information “forever” as opposed to until closing an account, founder Mark Zuckerberg said that they would return to their previous terms of use, at least until they work out the semantics. He said that subscribers will continue to own their information unless it has already been given out. Over 100,000 joined the People Against the new Terms of Service (TOS) Group to make their views heard.
