Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Design, Storage, USB,

USB PDFinally, someone has devised a flash drive that won’t loose its top. The PD USB 2.0 Flash Drive has a cover that swivels 180º and a hole to attach to your key chain. Enhanced for Windows ReadyBoost, the PD is the minute size of 34 x 18.3 x 3.2 mm and a weight of only 3g. At a starting price of $37.00 and available in black or white, we are grateful that there will be one less thing to misplace and hope that other companies will follow suit.

(Thanks, Fanny)

Mixa

We love this idea for a 1GB USB flash drive for holiday gift-giving. The drive housing is designed to look like a cassette tape and you can create the Mixa’s look with your own style. Choose from ready-made images on their site or come up with one of your own. Available in black or white, the device comes with an extension cable at a MSRP of $41.00. Just make sure whoever you give it to doesn’t put it into their old cassette player and push rewind.

Universal To Release USB Singles

Keane AlbumUniversal Music will begin releasing singles on USB memory sticks October 29 to compensate for the decreasing sales of CDs. The first releases will be those by the rock band Keane and Pussycat Doll Nicole at a price of ~$10.00. The company is counting on the slightly more expensive price as being agreeable to consumers because of the additional storage space. EMI plans to release Pink Floyd’s studio album on the same format, while Warner is planning a November release of the electro-punk band Hadouken.

USB Badge drive

We’re not sure if this item is the ultimate in geekiness…or usefulness. It’s the Badge Drive: a job ID holder/necklace on one side, but turn it over and BAM! there’s a drive for various sized memory cards. Just attach the included USB port, plug it into your computer and transfer important files from your PC to the drive and vice versa. Supports SDHC, MMC, Mini SD, RS MMC and MicroSD/T-Flash cards (an adapter is required for the latter). Super cool? Or Super Geeky? You make the call. Available for $14 USD.
