It looks like a can, but is in fact a Card Reader and 3-port Hub Combo II. It supports SD, SDHC, MMC, XD, CF, and T-flash/MicroSD. It will also transfer files to your PC by USB 2.0. If our Time Capsule unboxing gallery wasn’t enough for you, we’ve got a bit more for you in term of images of Apple‘s new NAS wireless router. We know that images can be deceiving, so we thought we’d put the current Airport Express router up against the Time Capsule and snap some photos so that you can see the size difference. The Time Capsule is definitely larger - understandable, since it has to pack in a 500 GB or 1 TB hard drive. Aside from size, the only other really obvious difference between the two is that the Airport Extreme has a white Apple logo, while Time Capsule’s is silver. Time Capsule finally shipping

Apple Time Capsule shipping When Apple announced Time Capsule, Steve Jobs promised that it would ship in February. Well, in similar fashion to the launch of both the iPhone and Leopard, Apple waited until just about the very last moment to get the product out the door. In any event, we ordered our Time Capsule as soon as it hit the Apple Store Online, and it just got out the door today. Looks like we can expect it to arrive around March 4th.

If you ordered yours after we ordered ours, let us know if you are also seeing that yours has shipped as well.

Store Your CDs Aesthetically

We keep our CDs in shoe boxes for the most part, but if you like to be a little more discerning, we found two new cases that will cheer up your shelves. At the a size of 14.17 x 5.71 x 5.04-inches and a weight of just over 27 oz., the Mini-Van Style Case holds 40 CDs for $25.79. On its box is the description as having a “unique patented design (that) ensures motion device works smoothly, slowly, silently.” While we believe this to be a comment on its opening and closing, you just never know. If you want something a little less expensive, you can opt for the Hamburger 12 CD Flannel Storage Bag that has a 7-inch diameter and weighs about as much as a real Quarter Pounder for $4.95.

One of this year’s hottest topics is storage. It seems like we’re about two steps away from getting flash drives as prizes in cereal boxes. With the release of OSX Leopard and its Time Machine app, backing up computers has become easier than ever. Enter Data Robotics’ Drobo storage robot.

As easy to use as a flash drive, the Drobo has four slots to accommodate 3.5” SATA I or II hard drives, and automatically makes redundant copies of data in order to protect from single drive failure. Drobo uses USB 2.0 to make backing up quickly, and is fully operable with OSX and Windows 2000 and up.

Retailing at $499, Drobo comes with everything you need to get started except the hard drives. It’s available now from online retailers.

DIY Pocket Protector

You know things are getting pretty commercial when online gadget-oriented companies actually sell pocket protectors. At a size of 5 3/4 x 3 3/8, it is made of vinyl and has multiple storage compartments for a pen, flash drive and MP3 player. It even comes with a sheet of stickers and a 36-inch lanyard in case you want to prove that you are a bonafide geek. At a mere price of $4.95, it would, at the very least, be a great Secret Santa gift next Christmas.
