The model graces the front of the magazine's most popular annual issue alongside models Nina Agdal and Lily Aldridge and was overwhelmed when she found out she had been picked for the honor.

Her husband, singer John Legend, told TV show Good Morning America, "She was so excited, and it was a surprise because you never know who's going to be on the cover. These are all beautiful women. She's been in the issue for several years now, and every year it's been someone else. And this year it's her. We're very excited about it."

Chrissy took to Twitter to express her excitement, writing, "I mean what else is there to say. I just cannot believe it. What an honor. Never, ever, ever have felt this kind of pure joy. Crazy crazy [sic]."

Ford’s creates a fake supermodel in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Mustang ad

Posted by Andrey Malskiy Categories: Misc. Tech, Transportation,

We’re always fan of interesting marketing technics, but this one takes that cake. Ford has unleashed a series of marking campaigns in this years Sports Illustrated Swimsuit magazine that feature the sexy Mustang in different colors alongside one beautiful model in a matching swimsuit. The model, Dalena Henriques, never shows her face, but it credited in each ad.

A quick Google search for Dalena Henriques brings up DalenaHenriques.com, no surprise there. The thing is, when you visit the site, every photo in her portfolio features her with the Mustang, with no face revealed. It then becomes obvious--Ford created a fake supermodel (and yes, they credited her as a "supermodel") of their own as an additional means to generate buzz.

Apple and Time Inc. sign deal that gives Time subscribers free iPad access

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Handhelds,

time magazine on ipadTime Inc. has signed a deal with Apple that will allow print subscribers to access iPad versions of its magazines for free.

Starting Monday, subscribers to Fortune, Sports Illustrated, and Time can read these magazines on their iPad by entering an authentication code identifying themselves as print subscribers, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Magazines have struggled to take off on the iPad. Earlier this year, Apple unveiled a subscription platform for the App Store that awarded 70 percent of revenue to publishers and 30 percent to Apple. However, many publishers found the financial terms to be unfair, and said they wanted full control of subscribers' personal information.

Brooklyn Decker: Sports Illustrated’s 2010 Swimsuit Cover Model

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Models,

The annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue isn't exactly about sports, nor is really about swimsuits -- but that won't stop models from coveting a page in the edition. This year, 22-year-old Brooklyn Decker did what most women in her profession dream of: she nabbed her very first SI cover. The North Carolina beauty -- a five-time vet of the magazine - somehow managed to wear more in this photo than in 2009 when she sported just body paint.

Sean Penn Steps Out with Petra Nemcova

Sean Penn, Petra Nemcova

While it is refreshing to see the usually somber smile—am I the only one disturbed by the fact that he’s grinning while out with a new woman?

It was only announced back in December that the Mystic River star was divorcing Robin Wright Penn, his wife of over 10 years.  Based on last night’s appearances with Petra Nemcova - a Sports Illustrated model (of course) - he hasn’t had any problem moving on.

Judge Twiggy Leaving ‘America’s Next Top Model’

DescriptionIs there something about that female judges can’t stand?

When first debuted in 2003, Baby Phat’s graced the judge’s panel along Tyra.  Since that time, the producers have met the estrogen quota by introducing ‘The World’s First Supermodel’ and .

But now after 5 years with the ‘Living Legend’, we’ve learned of another new face for Season 10: .  The woman who was featured in many Sports Illustrated issues (and was quickly dismissed on last season’s Dancing With The Stars) will soon be warming Twiggy’s seat at the far end of the table.  According to the producers, the replacement was made due to ‘scheduling conflicts’ in Ms. Lawson’s schedule.  (Of course, we know that excuse could be used as loosely as ‘irreconcilable differences’.)

I can only imagine that this new development might provide a ratings boost for the now long-running show.  I think most people in the 18-49 demographic can remember admiring Paulina’s photo at one point and time; I don’t think that’s something that could be said of Twiggy.

Tribute to Ron Chow and our Experts League Recap

Amare
Our second annual Dropping Dimes Experts League had its draft last night. Ron Chow and I are co-managing a team this year. What follows is a log of the draft from our perspective but something more important comes first.

Ron is taking a leave of absence from Dropping Dimes. One of the original four writers here, Ron will be missed. He was a regular contributor to our mock blog and during the season helped out with our rankings and wrote a feature called “Injury Impact.” He says it’s a break, but it feels like when a girl tells you that and it’s actually a break-up. So cheers to you, bro, and good luck with everything.
