Compared to it’s record-breaking debut ($150 million), Spider-Man 3‘s recent weekend take ($58 million) may seem like a dramatic fall. But when your worst is still six times higher than your closest competitor’s best, who cares??
The biggest surprise this week? Not the ho-hum performances of 28 Weeks Later or Georgia Rule. After weeks and weeks in the Top 10, Blades of Glory and Are We Done Yet? have finally left the building!

Spiderman 3 for Xbox 360 Is A Confusing, Unholy Abomination

Okay, I can’t speak for the game yet - who knows, swinging around cityscapes for a third time may be just as fun as the first outing. But my God, Sony has painted themselves into a corner with this whole PS3/Spiderman font crossover thing. I mean, just look at that Spider Man 3 360 box. There’s the big sideways, PS3 -font logo on the lefthand side, which would make me think “Oh, this must be a PS3 game!”, but then there’s that huge honkin’ Xbox 360 logo at the top! Gah! And to top it off, there’s a big “3” smack-dab, front and center. Does this mean Playstation 3? It’s like, it’s a PS3 game... but it’s NOT a PS3 game. Whoa. It certainly looks like it has something to do with the Playstation, what with that PS3 font and all. Oh wait, that’s the Spiderman font as well.
Of course, we all know what this means. It’s all part of a secret, UNDERCOVER PLAN by Sony and Microsoft to make people amenable to their UPCOMING MERGER! That’s right, you heard it here first! RUMOR: Sony and Microsoft will merge, soon after the release of Spiderman 3. Or is it SPIDERMAN 3? Anyway, it all makes perfect sense!!!!! It’s the only way to counter the threat of Nintendo taking over the world with their magic wands!!! Can’t you see, CAN’T YOU SEE!!?!!!?! (brain asplodes)

Spider-Man 3 Sneak Peek

The screening of Spider-Man 3 went off this weekend without a hitch, and that can only mean one thing. Early reviews are in…does the third installment to the superhero melodrama compare to the first two flicks? Spidey fans, even comic book purists, probably won’t be disappointed when the new film comes to theatres this spring. The cast reunites to reprise former roles, with Tobey Maguire in the lead as Spider-Man/Peter Parker, Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane, and all the old faces from the past two Spidey flicks coming together again. Topher Grace and Bryce Dallas Howard have joined the cast this time around, further expanding the Spider-Man family. Looking for a Spidey flick filled with cool special effects, a compelling plot, panoramic scenes, intense villains? Spider-Man 3 offers all of that…and more. The movie won’t make it to the U. S. until May 1, 2007, but some have already enjoyed a private screening of the film, so fans can get an early taste of all the Venom-ous action.

Apple and Sony Team up to Bring Classic TV Shows to iTunes

Doesn’t it seem like iTunes gets more and more interesting and diversified as each day goes by? Now comes word that Sony and Apple have cut a deal to bring episodes of 70’s TV classics “Charlie’s Angels”, “Starsky and Hutch” and (geek alert!) the original animated “Spiderman” to iTunes, for only $1.99 each. While we won’t hold our breath for episodes of “Pink Lady and Jeff”, we do hope this trend takes off, as we’re really hankering for a “Mod Squad” fix right about now.

Spider-Man 3 Adds New Villains to the Web

Sony Pictures will release the third installment to the Spidey saga May 4, 2007, much to the delight of eager fans. The blockbuster status and success of the first two films promises another big bang for Spider-Man creator Stan Lee, director Sam Raimi, and leading man Tobey Maguire. Cast and crew from the previous movies will be reunited for more gravity-defying movie magic, though some new high-profile names have been added to the cast. Kirsten Dunst will again shine onscreen as Mary Jane, along with other favorite characters (including Spidey’s friend-turned-nemesis, Harry) fans have come to crave. In Spider-Man 3, Marvel’s hero will have to battle his greatest opponent yet – himself.

Spider-Man 3 Trailer Hits The Airwaves

The new Spider-Man 3 trailer will be unveiled tonight, November 9th, nearly six months before the film’s release. In a large television and internet blitz, the 2-1/2-minute trailer will debut around 10pm (ET/PT) on the following channels: CBS, Comedy Central, MTV, MTV2, BET, Logo, Spike TV, and VH1.
The trailer will also be available for online viewing at AddictingGames.com, AddictingClips.com, BET.com, MTV.com, IFilm.com, Nick.com, ComedyCentral.com, GameTrailers.com, LogoOnline.com, Neopets.com, SpikeTV.com, The-N.com, VH1.com, Xfire.com, and right here on FilmCrunch, after the jump.
