Space Invaders Infinity Gene released amid praise

Posted by Brandon Gribin Categories: Games, $4.99,

Taito just released a new version of the classic video game Space Invaders on the App Store, called Space Invaders Infinity Gene.

The game begins with a familiar screen - your ship versus a hoard of familiar, white aliens that are slowing traveling down the screen. But before you know it, things start changing - this isn’t your 1970s arcade title anymore. As you progress in Infinity Gene, the game evolves based on attributes like your score and length of chained kills.

The game also features a music mode where your own music is used to create a level. How’s that for innovation??

Excellent reviews have started popping up on the internet and it sounds like we may have one of the best iPhone game here. It’s going for $4.99.

Yves Peitzner, director of Brainstormclub, the German company that produced the video, said that this was a promotional idea for a video game conference. They produced it even when the planners backed out. Two buildings in Munich were used and the game was added in post production.

Space Invaders Baseball Cap

Last year we featured lots of Space Invaders stuff, such as the bling, welcome mat, tote bag and even a baby mobile. Well we just found out the classic video game turns 30 this year.  To celebrate, manufacturer Taito and New Era caps have teamed up to release a collection of seven black, fitted-style 59Fifty caps embroidered with the game’s characters. We think they’re a tad pricey at $57 each, but think of how great it will go with this scarf. According to StrictlyFitteds.com, the caps are available at Cap Collector One and New Era.
