LG GM730 Smartphone With Windows Mobile 6.1

LG has launched their GM730, the first smartphone that offers Windows Mobile 6.1. Add to that their 3D S-Class User Interface with a cube layout. A single finger flip rotates each of the 5 faces and thereby eliminates most nested menus. Other features include a 5 megapixel cam, MP3 player and several games. The LG-GM730 makes its debut this July first in Asia, moving globally after that.

Nokia N97 Ships This Month

Nokia will finally begin shipping its N97 “Mobile Computer” this month to 75 countries, even though it began accepting pre-orders last month. The first batch will come packed with their Ovi Store. No specific countries were named, but we expect that North America and much of Europe will be on the list. Nokia VP Jonas Geust said that he is hoping it will be as successful as their N95, which has sold more than 10 million units during Q1 2009.

Sony Ericsson has a nifty new prototype named the Aino, named after a Finnish mythology creature. The smartphone features an 8 megapixel camera, syncs to your PC via 3G or WiFi and (here’s where the nifty part comes in) connects to your PS3, no matter where you are. This version will only show you what content is on it but hey, it’s a start. The Aino comes with a Bluetooth headset, headphones that light up and a wireless dock.

Samsung I7500 Smartphone

We guess we were correct yesterday. Samsung has announced that its first Android-powered smartphone, the I7500, will be released in Europe in June. The phone has a 3.2-inch HVGA AMOLED full touchscreen, a 7.2Mbps 3G HSDPA, a 5-megapixel cam, 8GB of internal memory and up to 32 GB of external memory. It is also packed with Google mobile services and a WiFi connectivity. No price has been announced as yet.

LG Arena KM900 Smartphone

LG has announced that it will unveil its Arena KM900 smartphone at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona that begins Feb. 11. The phone has a 3-inch WVGA touchscreen with 800x400 resolution and a 5 megapixel camera. The KM900 also has WiFi, A-GPS, and HSDPA 7.2 network support. What is most unique is its 3D touchscreen user interface with four customizable screens. No price or availability date has yet to be announced.

Virgin Mobile has announced that their Helio Ocean 2 will launch on February 12. This model is slimmer than the first generation but still has the dual-sliding design. Aside from the QWERTY keyboard, the phone features a 2.6-inch TFT display (240x320,) 3G connectivity, GPS with Google maps, stereo Bluetooth, a media player with background mode playback and access to social networking sites. It will also have 3D gaming, a file viewer with editing and a 2MP camera. A 512MB MicroSD card is included in the $149.00 price.

If you want more than basic GPS, the newly updated HTC Touch Cruise doesn’t simply give navigational directions, it allows you to take a picture while their Footprints software saves your location. You can then add your comments and audio. The phone also has a one-touch interface and lets you locate services and traffic tangling. This a great phone for geocachers and those who want to convince their friends that they actually saw Mt. Denali. Look for the unlocked Touch Cruise in the spring for about $500.00 to $600.00.
