Samsung Galaxy Note 5-inch smartphone, 7.7-Inch Galaxy Tab announced

Samsung expanded its Galaxy family with the announcement of a 7.7-inch Galaxy Tab tablet, and the Galaxy Note, a smartphone that blurs the tablet-phone line with its sprawling 5-inch screen and bundled stylus for quick memo-taking, or what Samsung terms "free-idea capturing." The Galaxy Note combines a Galaxy Tab tablet with a Galaxy S smartphone and adds the benefits of pen and paper, the company said in a briefing here at IFA.
Running Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the 6.8-ounce Galaxy Note is .37-inch thick and packs an unspecified dual-core 1.4GHz processor, an 8-megapixel back camera that captures HD video, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 2500-mAH battery. Battery life was not disclosed.
But the most notable aspect of the Galaxy Note—which, again, is a slab-style smartphone, with an earpiece and a microphone, not a tablet—is its big 5.3-inch HD Super AMOLED 1,280-by-800 (285ppi) WXGA display. Five inches, Samsung believes, is the perfect size to allow for 24/7 portability and single-handed operation, but still offer a large-enough display that eliminates the need to carry a tablet in addition to your phone. Consumers want to carry a single device when they're on the go, the company said.

Bleeding Edge TV 392: Belkin Bluetooth Keyboard Folio for iPad 2

We chat with Belkin about their Keyboard Folio in this episode, shot at GDGT Seattle 2011. The Belkin Keyboard Folio is a Bluetooth iPad 2 keyboard that folds into a case. The keys are TruType, which means that they aren't mushy like a lot of other iPad keyboards, and instead feel like real laptop keys. When you're done, the keyboard tucks away, and the folio acts as a protective case. It also has adjustable angles to maximize viewing and typing modes. You can grab one for $99.

Samsung Series 7 Slate hands-on

Samsung isn't new to the tablet game, but the company's newest offering - the Samsung Series 7 Slate - may be exactly what buyers have been waiting for in Windows tablets. We went hands on with the new Series 7 Slate, and we were pleased with what we saw.
The Samsung Series 7 Slate has a spacious 11.6-inch display, with 1366-by-768 resolution and an eye-popping 16 million colors. It should even look good outdoors, with 400-nit brightness coming from Samsung's sharp-looking SuperBright LED backlit display. That extra inch of real estate for the screen also helps to alleviate one of the biggest problems we've seen with Windows tablets, namely the fact that Windows icons become miniscule on a smaller screen. The touch screen is capable of registering up to 10 fingers at a time, or it can be used with a digital stylus for more precise selection or handwriting recognition.
The Series 7 Slate is also light, weighing 1.96 pounds - lighter than many smaller 10-inch tablets we've seen, like the Acer Iconia W500-BZ467, which weighed in at 2.1 pounds. It's thin too, measuring less than a half inch thick. The back appears to be brushed aluminum, and the rich texture of the cool metal surface leaves you feeling that the slate, though thin and light, is still substantial.

HP TouchPads sold out, but more coming soon

Before we get into the article - if you are looking for a TouchPad, HP has set up a TouchPad availability page for you to get updates! As more come in stock, they'll be listed there.
It was a big weekend for HP, but for all the wrong reasons. Shoppers overloaded the HP servers and rushed to their local Best Buy stores in the hopes of nabbing a TouchPad tablet at rock-bottom prices. But unfortunately for HP, it was just getting rid of existing inventory; those discounts are not likely to help its bottom line.
"All this clamoring for the TouchPad, kind of bittersweet," Bryna Corcoran, HP's social media manager, tweeted last night. "For those of you who end up with one in the end of all this, I want tweets and pics of how much you love it b/c I know you will."
Late Friday night, news broke that HP was selling its TouchPads at a heavy discount: $99 for the 16GB and $149 for the 32GB. By Saturday, Corcoran tweeted that all TouchPads were sold out in the U.S., though she said there were "more coming." The company set up a Web site that allowed customers to sign up and be alerted when more were available.

Best Buy decides to sell discounted HP TouchPad, still hard to get

Despite reports that Best Buy was returning its stock of TouchPad tablets to HP, the retailer said Saturday night that it would be selling discounted TouchPads after all.
"Due to HP's decision to discontinue its TouchPad product, Best Buy will now provide clearance pricing for all HP TouchPad models regardless of previously advertised prices or promotions," Best Buy said in a note on its forums.
The 16 GB TouchPad is $99 and the 32 GB is $149.

Since HP decided to leave the webOS hardware game and discontinue the TouchPad, the only thing left for it to do is slash the price deeply and liquidate the hell out of 'em, and that's exactly what is happening. HP has cut the price of the 16 GB TouchPad to $99 - a $300 price drop. The 32 GB model is also slashed down to $149, a $350 price drop. Even better?
