Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword

Here we are in the week before Christmas, and while we hope that everyone's got their holiday shopping completed, we know from experience that it's a little too optimistic to think that way. We put together our 2011 Holiday Gift Guide in order to help guide you, but we've heard loud and clear that some of you felt the guide was a little light in the video game area. With that in mind, we've decided to compile three big holiday game releases that we think you should add to your wish list, if you haven't already. The holiday season is chock full of major game releases, so this obviously isn't a definitive list. Instead, it's a look at three titles that we think you shouldn't miss. A big thank you goes out to Sony's Xperia Play, which sponsored this post - if you're looking for the ultimate smartphone that can also run Playstation games, you'll wanna check out the Xperia Play.

These games should all be easy to find at your local Best Buy, Target, Walmart, Gamestop, and the like - so you don't have to wait for slow shipping that might ruin an otherwise perfect Christmas gift exchange. Now, on to the list - click on through for our thoughts!

Nintendo on Monday announced that it will offer a pink Nintendo 3DS, bundled with one of two games, starting Dec. 4.

The pink 3DS will retail for $169.99 and come with one of two Nintendogs + Cats games: French Bulldog and New Friends or Toy Poodle and New Friends.

The bundle will join existing 3DS package options, just in time for the holiday season - here's a list of 'em:

  • The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword with a gold Wii Remote Plus controller and a CD with music from the series for $69.99.
  • Red Nintendo 3DS with Super Mario Land 3D for $199.99.
  • Special Edition Nintendo 3DS system with the Hyrule emblem and gold embellishments, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D game for $199.99.
  • A metallic rose or midnight blue Nintendo DSi XL system bundled with the Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem! game for $169.99.

Nintendo kicked off the holiday bundle sales for Black Friday, taking about $10 off the price of the handheld console.

Black Friday 2011: GameStop

GameStop Black Friday 2011

We've been busy posting some of the tech-heavy Black Friday 2011 sales that we're finding, and up next is GameStop. We don't particularly enjoy the GameStop shopping experience throughout the year, but they definitely have some good stuff planned for Black Friday with their midnight open. We've got the list for you after the break, where you can expect deep discounts on a bunch of new Xbox 360, Nintendo 3DS, DS, PS3, and Wii titles, as well as cheaper hardware like the consoles themselves and the Kinect sensor.
