With almost 600 million users on Facebook, it's no surprise that stores all over the Internet want a piece of that type of user reach. Shops went from simply having a fan page on the social networking site, to having actual products for sale, using the Facebook development platform. Services like Payvment have has been used by over 40,000 users and businesses to sell goods on Facebook. Now, Amazon is joining the crowd with some of its third party sites like soap.com, diapers.com, beautybar.com, and more. Users of Facebook will be able to buy goods using their existing accounts without ever leaving Facebook.

eBay releases Cyber Monday mobile shopping data

A couple of days ago was the infamous Cyber Monday, where online stores see massive surges in sales, and eBay is one of the prime destinations people go to buy goods. Today they reported that their mobile sales for the Monday after Thanksgiving were up 146%. Also, eBay released a visualization tool that shows mobile shopping trends across 6 countries. The company reported that the use of its mobile platforms went up 3 times since 2009, with its iPhone app leading the way, followed by Android and Blackberry. In the US, cars and trucks were the biggest mobile trends, with cell phones, PDAs, women's clothing and other accessories leading the number of transactions done. It's clear that eBay is pushing its mobile apps, having recently released an updated version for the iPhone which includes a bar code reader, to bridge the in-store and online shopping experience.

Amazon iPhone app now supports barcode scanning for price comparison

Amazon just updated their Amazon Mobile app for iPhone to now include barcode scanning. Basically, while you are out and about shopping, you can use your iPhone to scan the barcode of whatever you are thinking of buying, and Amazon will give you their price on the item. From there, you can purchase it and choose all your shipping options. Seriously, we have no idea what took Amazon so long to implement this, but it’ll definitely be a money saver. You can download the Amazon Mobile app for free.
