Shops went from simply having a fan page on the social networking site, to having actual products for sale, using the Facebook development platform. Services like Payvment have has been used by over 40,000 users and businesses to sell goods on Facebook. Now, Amazon is joining the crowd with some of its third party sites like soap.com, diapers.com, beautybar.com, and more. Users of Facebook will be able to buy goods using their existing accounts without ever leaving Facebook.

The burlesque dancer, who is famed for her retro-inspired wardrobe and glamorous look, is a regular visitor to the Santa Monica Vintage Expo, where she loves finding classic items of second hand clothing and accessories.

"The Santa Monica Vintage Expo happens twice a year and is my favorite vintage fair, with the best dealers from all over the country and good deals to be had. Definitely visit Connie Parente for the best vintage designer jewelry."

As well as markets, Dita is also a fan of vintage stores and often stocks up when she's in Los Angeles: "Doris Raymond's vintage store on La Brea is my favorite LA vintage store. From 1940's beaded black crepe dresses to coveted 90s Thierry Mugler suits, I always come out of her store with oodles of gorgeousness!"

Alexa ChungAlexa Chung recommends investing in expensive items of clothing.

The model-turned-TV presenter - whose unique sense of style has seen her voted one of the world's most fashionable women - says it's important to splash out on a few quality pieces as they will never go out of fashion.

"My ultimate style tip is to invest in pieces that will see you through a good few seasons - I definitely think it's worth spending a bit more on clothes you'll wear time and time again."

Although she is into fashion now, Alexa, 27, insists it hasn't always been that way: "When I was younger, I didn't really care that much about clothes, to be honest. I used to live in cowboy boots and denim skirts, and I wore a lot of my brother's clothes! The highlight of my youth was seeing Vivienne Westwood's wedding dress on The Clothes Show. People say I've got geek-chic style, but I don't try to be geeky! I think I look cool. I'm short-sighted, so I have to wear glasses. My style generally is preppy and tomboyish - I never wear anything too sexy."
