Girl Next Door Kendra Wilkinson Now Engaged

Kendra Wilkinson and Hank Baskett

UPDATE: You can see a picture of that proposal here.

Days after opening up about her split with Hugh Hefner, poor Holly Madison is having to deal with another blow. Of all the ladies on The Girls Next Door, tomboy Kendra Wilkinson will be the one walking down the aisle first!

Although most people knew Kendra had been seeing someone outside the mansion - she frankly talked about her cybersex life on an episode of Chelsea Lately - I don’t think anyone realized how serious her relationship with Hank Baskett was. (As of last week, the 23-year-old still was still moving out of Hef’s home.) Now the reality star is prepping to marry her Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver sometime in June.

Verizon FiOS vs. Comcast: Feature-by-feature

FiOS vs ComcastFiOS vs Comcast

Ten days ago, Verizon TV officially launched here in Washington state. I was actually invited to speak at the launch event that took place that day, alongside Verizon representatives, and local government officials. I was specifically chosen as a case study of just how good FiOS is, since I literally moved specifically because was way too slow for the things we expected out of our Internet connection here at Gear Live HQ. It was an event meant to talk up the advantages of FiOS over cable (specifically, Comcast, in this area). Obviously, with FiOS looming over their territory, Comcast went into damage control mode to combat Verizon’s claims that they were the best option for Internet and television services. We were sent both the FiOS press release and the Comcast press release, and we figured we would respond to the claims of each, point-by-point.

For some background, we’ve been Comcast customers for over six years, for both Internet and television services. When we moved for FiOS 15 months ago, Comcast was still our cable television provider. As of today, I am a FiOS customer for both Internet and television, and as of 10 days ago, am no longer a Comcast customer. Now, on with the comparisons.

Seattle Mind Camp 5.0: November 22-23 at Synapse!

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Upcoming, Announcements,

When you guys said you wanted us to go back to the 24-hour format for Mind Camp, we decided to make sure that happened, no matter how long it took to find the appropriate venue. Thanks to Mind Camp attendee Scott Bright, we’ve got it - Synapse, located in downtown Seattle. Never heard of Synapse? Well, that’s kinda the point - they do some amazing things there, but no one knows it. They also just happen to have an amazing space for us to use for a 24-hour Mind Camp event. So it’s on.

Seattle Mind Camp 5.0 will start on November 22 at 11:00 AM, and will conclude the following morning, November 23 at 10:00 AM.

Here’s the address:

Synapse
1511 6th Ave
Seattle, WA 98101
View Google Map

Here’s the Facebook event page.

Go ahead and spread the word, we think this will be the best Mind Camp event we’ve ever done, because the space is casual, and fits in perfectly with the things we want to do. Plus, they have some really cool stuff to show off. You gonna be there?

Robin Williams is the World’s Greatest Dad

Robin Williams

Robin Williams will do his best to make us forget by becoming the World’s Greatest Dad. The new film for Darko Entertainment will have the actor working for Bobcat Goldthwait, the movie’s writer/director.

While Goldthwait is probably best known for stand-up acts (and his previous engagement to ), the comedian has also helmed many programs and was once the lead director on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

In Seattle? We will be giving away iPhone gear at Alderwood Mall Apple Store tonight!

Alderwood Mall iPhone 3G

Hey Seattle line-waiters - Gear Live is gonna be in full effect at the Alderwood Mall Apple Store starting tonight at midnight. We are gonna be in line to make sure we get our hands on a white iPhone 3G, and we figured that instead of sitting around like a bunch of geeks who sit in line waiting for a cell phone launch (which we totally aren’t), we would have some fun. We will have a bunch of iPhone accessories available that we will be giving away, and we will have an early preview of Tap Tap Revenge to show off. We will do some one-on-one games in Tap Tap, and winners will get some cool gear.

We will also have our cameras with us as well so we can get all your opinions and thoughts on all things Apple for Bleeding Edge TV. So if you are in the area and plan on waiting in line for iPhone 3G to launch in the morning, hit up the Alderwood Mall location with us. We promise that our awesomeness won’t kill you.

EDIT: I am andruedwards on Twitter. I know a bunch of you are on that.

Our Verizon FiOS customer service nightmare: Why won’t they protect my private customer information?

Verizon FiOS Privacy issues

Seeing as we’ve been experiencing a ton of customer service issues with our service for the past 8 months, we figured it was time to put out a warning to you guys. After all, we typically hear that the FiOS Internet service is remarkably amazing, and people have been dumping cable in droves when FiOS becomes available in their area. Hey, there is good reason to. Where we are at, right outside Seattle, our choices are slow DSL, Comcast at 8.0 down and 768k up, or FiOS with a max speed of 30.0 down and 15.0 up (which is the plan we are on.)

Now let’s be clear here, we love the FiOS service. It works fantastically, it has never gone down in the 8 months we’ve been using it, and it’s, well, fast.

So what is the problem? To put it bluntly, Verizon has shown that they don’t care - at all - about protecting their users private, confidential information. Now, why would we make a statement like that? Check it.

‘Shrek’ Comes to the Stage

ShrekWatch out Oprah, someone else is ready to take on the world.

Despite three big screen installments, a television holiday special and two more sequels to come - just hasn’t had enough.  Hoping to milk its green cash cow for all its worth, the film company will be branching out with its ogre.  Late this summer, will make its debut.

The stage production, eventually bound for Broadway, will first make its run in Seattle before coming to the Big Apple.  This will not be the first musical to premiere in the Emerald City.  Tony-award winning Hairspray previewed in WA back in 2002; Young Frankenstein did the same in August ‘07.

The show at Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theater is scheduled to run Aug.14-Sept. 21.

Mind Camp 5.0 to be rescheduled

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Upcoming, Announcements,

I wanted to follow up from the email I sent out a couple of weeks ago to those of you who have purchased a ticket to Mind Camp 5.0 already. Since we weren’t able to raise enough sponsorship to cover the cost of the event, we will be delaying it. As it turns out, the usual companies who would sponsor have pretty much all spent their budget on , which takes place the week before Mind Camp would have.

I am in talks with the venue to see what date we can push back to - I am thinking it is going to be mid-March, so about an 8 week delay. This will (hopefully) give us a little more time to firm up sponsorship so we can get things paid for. As far as Mind Camp 5.0 goes, we have so far only signed one sponsor - TrenchMice at $500. A big thank you goes out to them.

If you’ve already paid for a ticket and want a refund, just drop me an email, and I will issue you one immediately. Otherwise, your ticket will simply be transferred and will be good for the newly chosen date. Once I found out when that will be, I will let you guys know.

In the meantime, if you have contacts at any local companies that you believe would benefit from supporting the event, please send them my way. Feel free to get back to me with any questions, and have a happy holiday!
