Panasonic Blu-ray DMP-BD50

Panasonic has unveiled its new 3rd generation Blu-ray player DMP-BD50. It features DolbyTrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, PIP, and BD-Live to connect to the Net. The company has included an SD card slot for viewing images on an HDTV from video or still cam with a 1920 x 1080 resolution and a VIERA link to control to home theater components with one remote. Available this spring, save your quarters as this one will set you back $699.95.

The Gais Faltima Series 010 may have an odd name but can do a lot. It plays music and data CDs, MP3s and WMA by USB, MP3 and WMA files by SD card and analog 33, 45 and 78 records. It also features an AM/FM tuner, front controls and number display. But the best part is that while the tunes are playing, the device will record them to another media form. At a price of $499.99, this one is so far only available in Japan, but we it expect will find its way elsewhere by the next holiday season.

ECTACO Unveils jetBook

jetBook If you still haven’t invested in a Kindle, ECTACO has just released its jetBook. The device has a clear image on a larger screen and features bookmarks and auto-page turning. The display rotates for portrait or landscape mode and you can adjust the book’s font. Running on an internal Li-ion polymer battery, the e-book will support an SD card and has a built-in MP3 player for tunes or audio books. With support for most major languages, the jetBook comes with an MSRP of $349.95.

Panasonic to Release D-Snap

It’s Panasonic’s turn to challenge the iPod by coming up with the D-Snap SV-SD870N. The player will run for over 100 hours on a 3 hour charge and features noise canceling technology that they say will get rid of up to 83% ambient noise. It also allows recording with a 2 gig SD card for up to 1,000 tunes and USB 2.0 connectivity. At a size of 35.0 × 90.7 × 11.4 mm and a weight of 40g, manage your music with its SD-Jukebox. The D-Snap will be available in red, white, black, silver, or blue in mid-April in Japan.

Infobar 2 Makes Japanese Debut

The Japanese company KDDI, in cooperation with Sanyo, has unveiled its Infobar 2 cell phone, the newest generation of the original created in 2003. The device features a 2.6-inch OLED, supports 1-Seg for mobile and reserved TV on its tuner, a 2M cam and a micro SD expansion slot. At a size of 47 × 138 x 15.5 mm and a weight of 104g, the battery allows about 290 minutes of talk time or 350 standby. Check with Sanyo for price and availability on this side of the planet.

IOGEAR’s Pocket Drive is Really an SD Card Reader

Disney’s Digital Camera Adds Character to Photos

Leave it to Disney to make digital photography even more fun and kid-friendly. With the Disney Pix Max, a 3.0 MP camera from Digital Blue, kids can superimpose their favorite Disney character onto the picture they’re about to snap. Just press a button and voila! Mickey Mouse appears in the viewfinder and can be posed anywhere within the frame. The $80 camera contains 32 MB of internal storage, but in case your budding Ansel Adams needs more space, there’s a slot for SD and MMC memory cards. The camera requires 2 AA batteries (none of these are included). An editing package complete with Disney clip art is included.
