The 35-year-old actress picked up the two dogs, named Sochi and Adler, from former Bachelorette Ali Fedotowsky, who escorted them safely to Los Angeles from Sochi on Saturday, where she working was an Olympic correspondent for E! News.
The 27 Dresses star, who has seven dogs of her own and co-founded the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation, aimed at finding happy homes for shelter dogs, told PEOPLE.com that she was inspired to help after hearing officials in Russia planned to kill any stray dogs found near the Olympic Park, and was concerned that one of the animals had been very sick on the flight: "Sochi hasn't eaten in 15 hours and is throwing up so we are hoping that it's just from the travel. We haven't done this before. We haven't done a rescue from another country. I'm nervous for the dogs. It's an awfully long flight. I'm hoping it's the beginning of the good life to come."

Wentworth Miller's former co-star is "very proud" of him for coming out as a gay man.
Dominic Purcell, who played the 41-year-old actor's brother in Prison Break from 2005 until 2009, has praised the British-born star for opening up about his sexuality for the first time this week as he took a stand against Russia's recent anti-gay legislation by refusing to attend the St. Petersburg International Film Festival.
"As a friend and someone I care for deeply, I am very proud of Wentworth. I wish him much happiness and peace. I applaud his courage and his stance against a wrongful, archaic ideology," the 43-year-old actor told UsMagazine.com.
A number of celebrities, including Neil Patrick Harris and Ellen DeGeneres, also took to Twitter to show their support for Wentworth after he wrote a letter on Wednesday to the organizers of the film festival stating he could not "in good conscience" attend the event because of the country's stance.

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Corporate News, Mods / Hacks, Software,
A Russian hacker has uncovered a serious breach in Apple's iOS App Store in-app purchase model that allows anyone to get access to pretty much any in-app purchase content completely for free. Surprisingly easy to set up, the model just requires the installation of two security certificates, followed by you entering a different DNS server in your Settings app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. That's it.

Posted by Andrey Malskiy Categories: Corporate News, Transportation,
Today we say farewell to the Lada 2107. Ff you’re not familiar with the Lada, no worries, consider yourself graced.
The Lada 2107 has been running around the streets of the former Soviet Union since the 1970s. The body style hasn’t changed much since the Lada’s origins of being a Fiat. But alas, “It's time to say goodbye,” says Igor Burenkov of AvtoVAZ. Lada is expecting demand for newer-body-styled cars from consumers. On that note, we say farewell; or better yet, До свидания, друг.

Google pays Russian hacker $60k for bypassing Chrome’s sandbox
Posted by Andrey Malskiy Categories: Google, Internet, Mods / Hacks,
It wasn’t too long ago I was in the Eastern Block of Europe. As you would expect, I had my run in with hackers, excessive vodka drinking, and the mob. But nothing quite says "Russia," like hackers. You want free software? They got it. So it comes to us to no surprise that a Russian university student hacked Google Chrome with bypassing the sandbox.
Now before you get alarmed and up your antivirus and firewalls, Google okayed this hack; more so, it was a competition put on by Google. The hack was the handy work of Sergey Glazunov, who is a regular contributor to Google’s security research department. Glazunov scored a payoff of $60,000 in Google’s new Pwnium hacker contest which began to run this year as an alternative to Pwn2Own.
According to Justin Schuh, a member of the Chrome security team, Glazunov’s by-pass was Chrome specific, which allowed him to bypass the sandbox entirely. Furthermore he added that Glazunov’s work was “very impressive” and would allow the hacker to do anything on the machine. However, bypassing the sandbox is not a trivial matter; that is why Google paid out $60,000 for the hack. A fix has already been released.

Russian engineer builds radio-controlled hovering DeLorean car
Posted by Andrey Malskiy Categories: Mods / Hacks, Movies, Toys, Transportation, Videos,
Ever since I was a child, I always wanted a hover car. More so, I wanted a car what was iconic. Now, granted, any hover car would be iconic, but I wanted something that would be undeniably cool regardless of what era the car was seen in. Well, with a few bucks, some creativity, and a little time on your hands, the dream is now possible.
Back over in the Motherland, a Russian engineer has built a radio-controlled hover car based on the DeLorean from Back to the Future. His mantra for the project is “Where we’re going, who needs roads?” which we find appropriate for the build. Though this isn’t a full size replica, it’s still one hell of a bragging right. Someone won a $5,000 vacation for using 419 GB of 3G data in one week
Posted by Andrey Malskiy Categories: Smartphones, Corporate News, Wireless / WiFi,
Here in the U.S., the days of unlimited data are over, unless you've been grandfathered in on an older plan (and even those are now being throttled!) However, unlimited data is still running rampant and wild in the land of Russia.
Russian carrier MegaFon held a competition to see which of its customers could use the most data--seriously, imagine that happening in America. There were more than 1 million rubles ($33,000) in prizes at stake. The winner, who used a staggering 419 GB of data in just one week, won an overseas vacation valued at about $5,000. Though we’re not sure how he used 21-megbits-per-second, we stand in awe of both the user, and the mobile carrier that encouraged the bahavior. So if you ever find yourself in Mother Russia, just remember, over there you don’t use data, data uses you.

Russia Inspired Chanel Couture
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers, Fashion Shows, Models, News,
Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld took his inspiration from Russia for the Chanel Couture show in Paris yesterday.
Models walked down a specially created runway at the Grand Palais in the French capital - walking out of a lion holding a giant pearl - in shades of maroon, brown, white and pink.
Although not a huge departure from what Chanel is known for - classical, flattering cuts in various tweeds - it was a solid collection, with fur-trimmed collars and cuffs teamed with mid-calf boots and seeming inspiration taken from Faberge eggs. Waistlines were kept high and shoulders boxy, with arms billowing, and as the show progressed, sequins and ornate detailing came in abundance.
The final model to walk down the runway was Karl Lagerfeld’s male model of the moment Baptiste Giabiconi, who donned a lion’s head mask while wearing the style of suit favored by the German-born designer - a black trouser and blazer combination worn with a high-necked white shirt.
Others to put on shows yesterday include Givenchy, who provided a decadent and glamorous collection and Giorgio Armani Prive, who worked a serious and sexy business-like chic.

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Corporate News, Microsoft, Xbox Live,
It’s hard to imagine that, with over 20 million members worldwide, that Xbox Live isn’t available in all Xbox 360 territories, but it’s true. However, we just got word that later this fall nine countries will be granted access to Microsoft’s online gaming community. Gamers in Brazil, Russia, Poland, Chile, Columbia, Greece, Hungary, South Africa, and Czech Republic will all be able to jump in. That potentially means there’ll be a lot of new people available to play against, and you just know that we’ll be seeing a marked increase in Zangief usage in Super Street Fighter IV. Better start prepping now.
