For a number of years, the Logitech Harmony One has been recognized as the best universal remote control, and now the company is back with the Harmony Touch. What's changed? Well, the Harmony Touch controls are focused mainly on its capacitive touchscreen, which is front and center. A lot of the typical controls that you'd typically have hardware keys for are moved to the touchscreen, which supports taps and swipe gestures. The goal here is to make is super easy for those of you who have a bunch of devices connected to your television or receiver, allowing you to swap between each with ease. The question is, does it do it's job as expected, and is it better than the Harmony One? Follow along in our full Logitech Harmony Touch review as we explore these answers.

Ready for a Netflix button on your remote control?
Posted by Patrick Lambert Categories: Corporate News, Home Entertainment, Internet, Movies,
Netflix today announced that streaming from Watch Instantly movies on your TV will be even simpler, as they've struck deals with several device makers including Dynex, Haier, Memorex, Panasonic, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, and Toshiba that will see a dedicated Netflix button added to the remote control. Starting this spring, new devices will apparently come with a remote that features the Netflix logo prominently, giving one-button access to the service. This will include some Blu-ray disc players and Internet connected TVs. According to the company's Chief Product Officer: "No more turning on the TV, going to a home screen and searching for the Netflix icon. With the Netflix one-click remote, it's simply a matter of pushing the Netflix button to instantly watch any of the vast selection of TV shows and movies available to stream from Netflix." The company has been working steadily to increase its reach, and is now available on almost any connected device one can think of.

TiVo Slide Bluetooth QWERTY remote control unboxing gallery
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Accessories, Features, Galleries, Home Entertainment,
It’s always been kind of a chose to “type” in the TiVo, but with the release of the TiVo Premiere and its discovery and search features—alongside its ridiculously slow interface—typing is downright awful. The TiVo Slide remote aims to change all that, giving you pretty much the same TiVo remote you’ve grown used to over the years (just more compact) with an integrated QWERTY slider keyboard. It all works over Bluetooth, and in the end, should make that hunt-and-peck typing a thing of the past. We will be bringing you a TiVo Slide review shortly, but in the meantime, enjoy these unboxing shots!
You can pick up the TiVo Slide remote from the TiVo Store for $89.

JVC, for Home Entertainment
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Home Entertainment, Movies, Music,
JVC’s components would be a fine start to create a home entertainment system. The EX-A10 features their Hybrid Feedback Digital Amp, decodes Dolby Digital and DTS Surround for two-channel output, and 3D-Phonic Surround Sound. The DVD player is compatible with most audio and video discs and can decode DivX, JPEG, MP3, and WMA files. Included in the deal is a sleep timer, display dimmer, 99 program tracks, and electronic bass/treble control. Two-way birch wood cone/dome speakers are part of the package and you know it is premium stuff when it takes two remotes to work. All this can be yours for $1099.95.
