American Idol 7 final four finisher Jason Castro’s post-reality TV career has taken a turn for the better. That’s right, Idol’s favorite dreadlocked dude has now been signed to a major recording label. Soulful tunes to follow.
Jason Castro, the doe-eyed dreamer has officially joined the Atlantic family of recording artists. His new album, which will be released later this year, will feature songs written by names like Martin Terefe, Guy Chambers and Kara DioGuardi.

Will J.Lo and Epic Records Part Ways?

Rumor has it that Jennifer Lopez may soon be in the market for a new record label, as sources purportedly close to Epic Records say the diva’s album sales aren’t doing well. Couple sinking sales with the expenses related to Lopez promotions, and you’re looking at one angry label. According to the source, her last album cost over $60,000 – for the cover alone.
Epic absorbs the cost of Lopez’s promotional expenses as well, which supposedly cost $8,000 in makeup per appearance. Are you flipping kidding me? Eight large on makeup for a woman that everyone already thinks is hot? No wonder Epic is tired of J.Lo’s epic spending.

Superfrothco Record Label to Release Solely in USB Flash Drive

Superfrothco appears to be the first independent record label to switch its format to USB Flash Drive alone. Its debut album will be from Jeffrey Scott Holland in September, who performs a combination of modern jazz, cabaret, dixieland and show tunes. The company will also be releasing the back-catalogued Hasil Adkins “Night Life” and the soon to be released Grillo the Clown, a Kentucky street performer whose thing leans mostly towards the Weird Al variety. We are thinking that if more record companies begin to do the same, they might want to start including a package deal that would include a hub with every few purchases.
