orbitsound T3, Music in the Air

The orbitsound T3 is a device that you wear around your neck, plug in your MP3 player, iPod, music phone, PSP, or PMP, and you get what the company calls “music in the air.” Battery powered, it is about the size of a cellie, is portable and lightweight, and features full airSound stereo. We were a bit curious about how it worked and discovered that the gadget “uses your chest cavity as a resonator to reinforce the sound from the unit when worn around your neck.” Uh-huh. We understand it will also work with a PC, TV, or desktop stereo and suspect that this is not an inexpensive gadget, as no price was available. Contact orbitsound for more details.

echochrome hits the PlayStation Store

Oh, happy day, echochrome has arrived. In case you’ve been under a rock, echochrome is a delicious puzzle perspective game, which is simple and deceptive all at the same time. The graphics are simple, the concept is amazing, and we’ve been waiting for it since last year’s E3. It is now here, along with a few other pieces of content - like new Rock Band tracks - on this weeks PlayStation Store update.

Sony Expands Blu-Ray Capability in PlayStation 3 with BD-Live

Sony’s next PlayStation 3 software update, due out later this month, allows downloading of games, videos, and ring tones. The console is to be updated with Blu-ray Disc Profile 2.0 and BD-Live will be added to the PS3. The update includes “resume play” for both discs and DVD. You can also copy music and images on a PSP and use it as a remote for the PS3.

We certainly are not surprised at this news as we think that Sony has been silently screaming,”Goody, goody, goody!” since the end of the disc war. While this is the first Blu-ray player that can access the Net, Panasonic also plans to release one with BD-Live later in the spring.

PSP Goes Bronze

Sony is releasing a special Limited Edition PSP that comes with a bunch of accessories. To be released in Japan April 24, the Matte Bronze Value pack comes with a pouch, hand strap, a D Terminal AV cable, and a USB mic for Skype, which will become available March 18, for ¥23,800 (~$228.00.) Sony will also be offering a charging cradle that can be used for TV viewing or if you need a break from the gaming action. The holder comes with a remote and will be available for ¥4,800 (~$46.00.)

Tired of your bland iPod earbuds? Check out Budclicks, decorative “add-ons” that snap onto those buds, lending them a little more personality. Designs include “radioactive,” “biohazard,” and for the ladies “pink daisy” and “red retro starburst.” According to the website, the Budclicks also fit on PSP and Intec earbuds. Budclicks are 1” in diameter and cost only $10-$15 USD per set.

PSP Burns a Hole in His Pocket

Burned PSP Harold Clay was burned at school today after his PSP caught fire in his pants pocket. Knowing what to do, the 12 year-old dropped and rolled when he felt it heating up. The middle school student from Metro Detroit’s Farmington Hills was treated at a nearby hospital for minor burns. The portable game system was confiscated by local police to investigate the cause of the blow-up. A local news station called Sony where a spokesperson claims it is the first occurrence of overheating. We are not sure if that is the case, we are just surprised that the PSP was allowed in school in the first place. By the way, Burn Out was the game inside the PSP at the time of the accident.

PSP God of War Gets a Release Date and Demo Details

The next installment in the popular Sony franchise God of War, subtitled Chains of Olympus and a prequel to the original God of War, will be debuting on the PSP March 4, 2008. The news may be a little disappointing for some hoping to add the flagship first party title to Sony’s handheld this Christmas, but Sony has also announced that it will be putting out a demo at the end of this month. When the game’s official website launched back in April, Sony included the opportunity for North American gamers to sign up for a special UMD-based demo version prior to the game’s release.

The limited edition demo will include part of a playable level plus extra goodies including behind-the-scenes footage. A copy of the demo without the extras will be released later this year.
