Prince Philip Undergoes Heart Tests

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Rumors,

Prince PhilipPrince Philip has undergone tests on his heart after doctors feared for his health.

The Duke of Edinburgh is at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Scotland, where he was taken on Wednesday as a "precautionary measure" after suffering from a recurrence of a bladder infection, and medics have done a series of tests to make sure he will be able to recover.

"He was given top-to-toe tests including heart checks because they were concerned. They were worried about his ticker and wanted to be sure. That's why they are taking their time to give him a thorough examination in hospital so they can deal with any problems," a royal aide told The Daily Star.

The 91-year-old prince has been told to rest by doctors and has not been receiving visitors while he recovers, although members of the Royal family are staying nearby. On Friday doctors said the duke was responding well to treatment, and in touch with his loved ones by telephone.

Prince Philip is Released From the Hospital

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Birthdays,

Prince PhilipBritain's Prince Philip was released from the hospital on Saturday.

The Duke of Edinburgh - who had been admitted with a bladder infection earlier this week - was allowed to leave the King Edward VII Hospital in central London in time for his 91st birthday yesterday.

Philip was in typically blunt form, telling reporters who asked him if he was feeling better: "I wouldn't be leaving here if I wasn't." However, he paid tribute to the staff who cared for him, shaking hands with them all as he left and thanking them for caring for him during his five day stay. Philip then climbed into the front passenger seat of a Land Rover Discovery vehicle before being driven away from the hospital, with a police escort.

"His Royal Highness left hospital today. He continues to improve and he will now continue his convalescence at home," a Buckingham Palace spokesman said. The spokesman added the duke would be spending his birthday "privately."

Philip was taken to hospital after spending hours on a ceremonial barge in rain and a cold wind as part of a flotilla of 1,000 vessels on the River Thames to mark Queen Elizabeth's landmark Diamond Jubilee. Royal aides said he was treated with antibiotics and made good progress during the week.

Prince PhilipBritain's Prince Philip has been hospitalized.

The 90-year-old Duke of Edinburgh was taken to King Edward VII hospital in London from Windsor Castle as a "precautionary measure" after developing a bladder infection, Buckingham Palace has confirmed. The condition is not thought to be serious, although it means Philip will miss the remained of events planned to celebrate his wife Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee.

"The Duke of Edinburgh will not attend tonight's Diamond Jubilee. He has been admitted to hospital as a precautionary measure after developing a bladder infection," stated a series of tweets from the British Monarchy's official account.

Representatives from the palace have revealed he will be kept in for several days for observation. They added that the duke is disappointed to miss tonight's jubilee concert where acts from the queen's 60-year reign will perform, but the monarch will still attend. Philip will also miss tomorrow's Service of Thanksgiving.

UK Queen Goes YouTube

The Royal Channel

Britain’s monarch, Queen Elizabeth, has her own YouTube page, known as “The Royal Channel,” of course. It features recent and archival TV clips, as well as many of her speeches to the “little people.” The site has already had over 225,000 hits and has gotten the most hits this week, proof positive once again that if you want to get the word out, the Internet is the place to do it.

Tomorrow she will be posting a new “Queen’s Speech” for 2007 at 3:00 p.m GMT. Until then, you can be content with some of her 1957 Christmas Greetings. And we didn’t even know she was into computers. What’s next, Prince Philip and Camilla on MySpace?
