Nintendo will not hold an E3 media briefing this year

Nintendo Media Briefing 2013 cancelled

Nintendo has made a major announcement, saying that it will not be holding it's regular annual E3 media briefing this year. The E3 press conferences held by Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo are usually the highlight events of E3, setting the stage for the rest of the event by letting us know what each of the Big 3 have coming over the next year. With Wii U sales not meeting anywhere near Nintendo's expectations (and even falling short of the updated guidance,) alongside corporate reshuffling at Nintendo of America, one has to wonder if the move to not hold a major press event is because the company is putting out fires internally. Nintendo says that it will, instead, hold two smaller events at E3 for media and distributors, limited only to showing off new games.

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Handhelds, Rumors

Amazon tablet kindle press conference

Amazon has been working on a new Kindle tablet for quite a while, and it looks like its set to reveal it to the world in just under a week. The Android-powered device is set to take advantage of all of Amazon's services--not just eBooks, but video on demand, music, the store, and all the rest. We're guessing that in addition to a tablet or two, we'll also see an updated e-ink version of the Kindle as well. Of course, we'll let you know what happens when it all goes down this Wednesday at 10:00 am Eastern!

Well, now you can watch the press conference in its entirety, and we’ve embedded it above. Apple iPhone 4 press conference prediction

Steve JobsIn just about 30 minutes, will be holding a rare press conference to address issues surrounding the . They’ve been pretty vague about the content that they will address, but it’s pretty obvious to all that they will be talking about the antenna issue that many have been complaining about (although we also wouldn’t mind hearing about a ship date for the white iPhone 4, and an update on the proximity sensor issue.) We figured we’d take a stab at predicting what Apple is gonna do. Aside from going over numbers and explaining what’s going on, it seems that the easiest and most inexpensive fix would be to offer up a gift card to those who have purchased an iPhone 4 already to cover the cost of a Bumper Case, while offering a bumper case to new buyers at the point of sale. So, we think we’ll go with that.

Now it’s your turn—hit us in the comments and let us know how you think Apple will handle this mess.

E3 2007: Super Smash Bros. Brawl Still Not Confirmed To Have Online

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

1UP is reporting on the omission of any mention of online gameplay when the subject of Smash Bros. Brawl came up at Nintendo’s press conference earlier this week. Of course, online is a feature that’s probably probably the number one item on every gamer’s wish list when it comes to Super Smash Bros. So it really raises an eyebrow when Nintendo discusses its dedication to online gaming but fails to mention anything about Brawl being online.

It’s suggested in the 1UP story that Nintendo may simply want gamers to focus on the concept of Mario Kart Wii’s online play. And, of course, there is the Tokyo Game Show where Nintendo could make the announcement. Given that this press conference seemed heavily focused on Nintendo’s mentality of expanding the market with casual games, an announcement of Smash Bros. Brawl being online would have drastically diverted attention from that focus.

We’ll keep you up to date on this situation; in the meantime, let’s keep our fingers crossed and all hope that Nintendo knows what it’s doing.

E3 2007: New LittleBigPlanet Footage

Posted by Kyle Ulrich Categories: Adventure, E3, PlayStation 3, Sony, Trailers

Looking better and better every time we see it, LittleBigPlanet continues to exude charm effortlessly. At Sony’s press conference a few days ago a new trailer emerged, this time showing off the depth and ease-of-use of the game’s deep well of customization options. Much can be inferred about how limitless the games options are in the scant few minutes the trailer plays. Watch in awe of the next big thing in gaming.

E3 2007: Killzone 2 Extended Trailer Features More Action

As if the Killzone 2 trailer shown at Sony’s press conference wasn’t awesome enough, GameVideos has this extended version of the trailer. I’ve been a major doubter of Killzone 2, but this trailer really has me amped up for the game’s release. Naysayers, take a look before you do any further bashing of Killzone 2.

E3 2007: New Xbox 360 Hardware And Accessory Details [UPDATE]

Halo 3 special edition Xbox 360 consoleAs we unveiled on Tuesday, we finally know the price point and release date for the Xbox 360 chatpad. At Microsoft’s press conference we saw Peter Moore hold up a new Xbox 360 model – a Halo 3 special edition 360. The console itself will have a green and gold paintjob with a matching wireless controller, a 20GB hard drive, headset, Play & Charge kit, and exclusive Halo 3 gamer pics and theme. The system will be available in September.

Another hardware tidbit was that in October we’ll see several new colors of wireless controllers – pink, dark blue, and light blue – making for a total of five different controller colors. Check after the break for a look at the new controller colors.

Update: Game | Life has some details on the special Halo 3 edition Xbox 360 - specifically, the headset included will be wireless and the system itself will have an HDMI port. And to clarify, the system won’t come with a copy of Halo 3.

E3 2007: The Big Three: Who “Won” E3?

E3 2007 winnerIt always seems a bit silly to declare a “winner” of E3. It’s just so juvenile. This is a complex industry that can’t be distilled down to the simple question of “who beat whom.”

But we just can’t help it, can we?

Comparing the three keynotes this year, however, really is a grab-bag of possible outcomes. All three offered something interesting, and picking a single “winner” this year more than ever depends how you define “winning.”

My rundown is after the break.
