Available in both Mac and PC flavors, the My Passport Edge is all about compact portability. the drives are about the size of a deck of cards and can hold up to 500GB of data, passed back and forth over speedy USB 3.0. The Mac version is configured with out-of-the-box Time Machine compatibility and sports a brushed aluminum finish for $119, while the PC version includes custom backup SmartWare backup software and black exterior for $109. Western Digital announced an update to its My Passport line of portable hard drives today with the My Passport for Mac, which top out at 2TB of storage space and include USB 3.0. It also offers out-of-the-box Time Machine computability, and rugged WD Nomad casing. They start at $99 for a 500GB model, and top out at $199 for the 2TB drives.
We recently covered the release of Western Digital’s My Passport 2 TB hard drive, and now the company has released a Mac-specific professional series external drive for all your mass storage needs.
The Western Digital My Passport Studio 2 TB maintains a classic metal finish, matching colors nicely with recent Mac models. The My Passport Studio can be used as a Time Machine destination as well, allowing users to automatically back up their system. WIth 2 TB of storage space, it can hold about 400,000 photos, 240 hours of video, or 500,000 songs. We’d say that’s plenty. The other main feature of the drive is the dual FireWire 800 ports, allowing you to daisy chain additional devices.
The price of the My Passport Studio 2 TB is set to be at $299.99, and you'll be able to get it later this month.

I’m not in the habit of keeping my portable hard drives next to the bathtub, but if I did, the SH93 from A-DATA would be a legitimate contender. These new portable HDDs can last up to 30 minutes when plunged into one meter of water. And hey, not only is it water-resistant, but it’s durable in other ways. The rubberized coating can survive the military MIL-STD-810F drop test, so you know it’s solid, right?
No word on pricing or availability as yet, but they will come in a red or yellow finish in memory capacities of 240, 320, 500, and 640GB.

The InSight portable hard drive has a display that is always on, which shows important information such as the drive name and available free space. It runs at 5400 rpm with an 8 MB cache.
