Soca Claims Crime Bosses Communicate Via Playstation

PlayStation 3 That dude that you met in that chat room may be a con, literally. The UK’s Serious Organized Crime Agency recently issued a report that claim that some crime bosses are utilizing PlayStations to control their “empires.” Soca says that it tracked over 5,000 prisoners over the past year and the they are using the game system to send “secret signals” while playing online, get inside chat rooms and use codewords. A spokesperson of the Prison Service claims that they have not been allowed access to wireless enabled technology and that the claim is bogus. As of this date, Sony has made no comment.

Logitech Premier Edition Black Guitar Controller

PS3 Guitar Logitech has announced their Premier Edition Black Guitar Controller. The faux instrument is made of a one-piece contoured wood body, a noise dampening design on the strum bar and buttons and accents on the metal frets. Play Guitar Hero as far away as 30 feet from a Playstation 2 or 3 console for hundreds of hours before needing a recharge. Look for it in the U.S. this month for $199.99 and in Europe in June.

Gamer Wins Real Racecar Slot

How cool would it be to become a real race car driver just by playing a video game? Ask Lucas Ordoñez, who won the Nissan/Playstation GT Academy contest. The game was Gran Turismo and the prize was becoming part of the European GT racing team. In his first race, Lucas crashed on the final lap, but still managed to come in third. The team will hit Italy next and has 4 more races this year. By the way, real training was included in the prize.

The Beatles Come To Rock Band

MTV Games and Harmonix have convinced Apple Corps, the Beatles’ music company, to put some of their tunes on Rock Band. Included in the deal will be:

The Beatles: Rock Band Software - Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii: $59.99.
The Beatles: Rock Band Standalone Guitars - Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii: $99.99.
The Beatles: Rock Band Limited Edition Premium Bundle: Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii: $249.99.

THQ WWE SmackDown Vs. Raw 2009

Can’t get enough wrestling action from the tube? THQ is launching its latest title “WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009” this week. Included in the roster are Dusty Rhodes, Randy Orton, Johnny Swagger and Beth Phoenix. In all there are over 60 wrestlers. Gamers can create custom finishing moves as well as images and highlight reels to share with others. Look for the launch of “WWE Legends of Wrestlemania” next April with 40 superstars and managers. You can pre-order Smackdown now for Xbox Live, Playstation 2, Wii, or Nintendo DS at a price of $39.99.

Logitech has announced their Wireless Guitar Controller, Premiere Edition for the Playstation 2 and 3 Guitar Hero. The neck and quiet fingerboard are made of wood and the frets and tuning peg handles are metal. The device has a 2.4GHz wireless USB receiver and a battery life of “hundreds of hours.” The controller has a range of up to 30 ft. and a bonus gig bag with pockets for accessories is included. Pre-order the nifty device for $249.99 for a December delivery.

We’ve got notes galore for you as it pertains to the Sony E3 2008 Media Briefing, and we’ve also got a full gallery from the event for you as well. As if that weren’t enough, we’ve even got E3 2008 Sony Media Briefing video highlights as well. Anyhow, here’s the scoop, live from the Sony event.

Jack Tretton hits the stage after a montage of upcoming games for PS3, PS2, and PSP. He starts joking around and giving a brief history of the Shrine Auditorium. Playstation brand was seeded 15 years ago this week, where Sony decided to create it’s own videogame console. He talks about the long-term 10 year strategies employed into the Playstation and Playstation 2. Says there were marquee games for those titles, but they came out years after teh console debut. Same for the Playstation 3. He gives some props to PS3 as well, talking about Blu-ray and the Cell processor.

“We’re here to talk about genre-defining kick-ass games” - alright, let’s do it. That would be a big change from what Nintendo had to offer us. Games like Metal Gear Solid 4 is the reason why you buy a Playstation 3. Over 75 titles are exclusive to the console. Today Sony has three successful platforms on the market at once. They start with PS3.

We think that the Massage me Jacket must have been designed by a couple of women whose men wouldn’t leave their gaming consoles. Hannah Perner-Wilson and Mika Satomi are behind the clothing made with a hacked Playstation Controller that takes two to use. One wears the jacket and the other treats the users back as a gamepad, since it has soft, flexible buttons. As long as the game lasts, the wearee earns the real bonus. The duo tells you give you some DIY tips on their site. We’ll take several, please.

Compatible with the Playstation 2, Playstation 3, and PC platforms, it has the regular functions of other gamepads, and also has modules that can be removed and replaced for any game or style. With 2.4 GHz wireless tech, the unit includes instructions for you to develop your own custom mods and accessories. Sales are on a first-come pre-order basis with a ship date expected of 8 to 10 weeks. Best of all, a portion of the $129.99 from some of the controllers will go to Children’s Hospital and Veterans Affairs Medical Centers.
