Photographing the Lamborghini Aventador like a boss using a light on a stick and Forza 4

I may not shoot often, but when I do I make sure I shoot like a boss. Now, grante,d access to the most expensive equipment may not always be something that you can count on, but regardless of what camera you've got, lighting is key in any shot. Apart from solid lighting, thinking outside the box may also be necessary, as Blair Blunting uses Forza 4 to get inspiration for shooting the Lamborghini Aventador. Don’t believe us? Check out the video above!

Google-owned Photovine is now live - but what is it?

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Smartphones, Google, Software,

Another photo service is about to enter the digital space. The Web site for Photovine is live but lacking in information, other than a teaser video.

Photovine was built by a company named Slide which was acquired by Google in 2010. Google reportedly paid about $228 million for Slide.

The skimpy homepage is labeled "Photovine," with a tag that reads "plant a photo, watch it grow". There is one sentence under that reads, "Photovine is a fun way to learn more about your friends, meet new people, and share your world like never before."

The app is displayed in use on an iPhone 4 to the right of the text. That's thoroughly confusing given that Google owns the Photovine trademark. It stands to reason that an Android phone would be more apropos.

Comic Book Jobs: Mike Mayhew

Posted by Tom Mason Categories: Editorials, DC Comics, Marvel Comics,

Namor #5Comic book artist Mike Mayhew (who works for both DC and Marvel) has landed himself “a gig from a major comics publisher.” Since he uses photo-reference to help him achieve the photo-realistic look of his art, he’s looking for “many models to portray dramatic scenes in a mainstream comic book. All ages, races, and types will be considered.”

It’s an extended assignment and a paid gig and he’s looking to start shooting at his studio in Glendale, CA right now. The photos “are merely reference for my art and will not be reproduced.”

You can find samples of Mayhew’s work at his website.

Good luck, models!

Hedi Slimane Shoots Georgia May Jagger for Harper’s Bazaar

Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Celebrities, Models, News,

It looks like Harper's Bazaar is on a role with their editorials! First was Christina Hendricks, and now Georgia May Jagger graces the fashion magazine's pages this month looking gorgeous and ever-so graceful. Fashion designer and photographer Hedi Slimane shot the rockstar spawn (catch a video and the rest of the photos after the jump) in Giorgio Armani, Michael Kors, Gucci, Lanvin, and Chanel Haute Couture.

When asked about what her model mother Jerry Hall thinks of her topless shoots, she seems to not care, considering she's been there and done that decades ago:  "My mum did a lot of very provocative work with Helmut Newton. She understands."

Whether it's the result of her mother's genes or her own inherent talent, Georgia May looks flawless in the photos.

Heidi Klum for Ann Taylor

Heidi Klum will be the face of Ann Taylor's Christmas advertising. The German supermodel will show the brand's party dresses, gifts and day-to-evening separates in the advertising for the festive season, which was shot by British photographer Rankin and admits the collection is a "fun" one.

"I love dressing up! If you're going to a party, why not make the most of it? This new collection is all about luxurious fabric, really great styles and fun accessories. More is more, so have some fun with it."

The European beauty - who raises four children with her husband, British singer Seal - has previously shot a campaign for Ann Taylor's festive range, and replaces Naomi Watts as the face of the brand.
