Samsung Movies Open for Business

Samsung is the latest company to try to compete with their new dedicated movie store. Samsung Movies are available to the company’s cell phones, PCs and laptops. About 500 movies and TV shows are in the starting lineup, with an additional 1,000 to be added by the summer. Initially the service will only be available in the UK and Germany. Rentals start at a price of $3.49 while film sales start at $6.99.

Microsoft Offers $250,000 to Find Virus Source

Use your computer skills and earn enough to retire. Microsoft is offering $250,000 to find the person behind the Downadup/Conficker virus. Released in October, millions of Windows computers have been affected. The Conficker worm can infect computers or hide in USB flash drives. Downadup, as we previously told you to watch out for, can turn your PC into a botnet. The reward has been offered because the company views the virus as a criminal attack, so go out there and catch the bad guys.

Dell Latitude and Precision Laptops

Dell has announced 2 new Precision laptops and 6 new Latitudes aimed at the business crowd.The Precisions start at $1,449.00 and their M2400 weighs a mere 4.77 lbs. The Latitudes are available in five different colors and the company claims better battery life. They start at a price of $869.00. The E4300 weighs about 3.3 lbs., making it their lightest, and the E6400 ATG meets military standards for dust, humidity, and vibration. All but two of the Latitudes are available now.

India to Help Develop $10.00 PCs

India has agreed to work on the planet’s cheapest laptop. The Minister of State for Human Resource Development D. Purandeswari says that the country will try to develop $10.00 units for school kids. Back in 2006, the Indian Government decided not to go for the OLPC program but seems to have changed its mind. The project will be funded by the Reliance Anil Dhirubahi Group and will launch in Maharashtra’s Khairat village. They are hoping to cover about 25,000 towns 6,000 villages by the end of this year.
