Panasonic to Release Mini-Cam

Panasonic SDR-S7 CamcorderWhile we are on the subject of digital mini-camcorders, Panasonic has unveiled one at a size of 41 × 59 x 102mm and a weight of 160g. The SDR-S7’s features include DVD (MPEG2) video recording, a 2.7-inch display, a 10x optical zoom, and 0.06s Quick Start. The cam supports SD cards up to 16GB. Take your choice of either silver or black. The SDR-S7 carries a price of 44,800 yen (~$435.) Look for a debut April 25 in Japan.

Olympus Unveils Waterproof Compacts

Olympus has two digital compacts to add to their Stylus line, the 1030 SW and 850 SW (shock and water-proof.) The 850 features an 8 MP sensor, a 2.5-inch HyperCrystal II LCD display, and a 3x optical zoom. Drop it up to 5 feet and it bounces back, figuratively speaking. The camera can go down 10 feet in temperatures of about 14ºF. The 1030 has a 10.1 MP sensor, a 2.7-inch HyperCrystal II LCD display, and a 3.6x optical zoom. Olympus claims that it will handle a depth of 33 feet and a temperature as low as 14ºF. The 850 should be available later this month for at a price of ~$300.00 while the 1030 makes its debut in March for an extra $100.00.

Fujifilm To Release Colorful Finepix

Fujifilm Korea has announced their new Finepix Z10fd line of digital cameras. The 18.8 mm thick cam has a 7.2 megapixel resolution, a 2.5-inch LCD, and a 3x optical zoom. Holding up to 54 MB of memory, it features face detection technology and automatic red eye removal. Take your choice of colors of black, blue, forest or lime green, orange, red, and pink. No word yet on price and availability, although we wouldn’t be surprised at its being offered up as Christmas fare.
