Gateway is after the student demographic with their NV Series Notebooks. Available in black, blue, red, or brown, most feature a 15.6-inch LCD (1366×768,) 4GB RAM, 320GB hard drive, webcam, DVD burner, HDMI and Vista Home Premium. The NV5214u, with a price of $499.00, comes with a 2.1GHz dual-core AMD Athlon 64 CPU and ATI Radeon 3200 graphics while the NV5807u has a 2.1GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU and an Intel 4500MHD graphics chipset at a price of $599.00.

Clevo RIGID-note T890M Notebook

Displayed at the recent Computex Taipei 2009, the RIGID-note T890M has a RFID or 2D bar code reader, GPS, an Intel Atom Processor and an 8.9-inch WSVGA display (1024x600.) No price or release date has been announced.

Panasonic Let’s Note Light Notebook

Dubbed Let’s Note Light, the portable PC features a 1.4 GHz Intel 2 Solo SU3500 or Duo SU9400 Processor, 2GB RAM upgradable to 4GB, 64GB SSD, a 9 hr. battery life and both WiFi and Ethernet compatibility. Retailing for about $1,750.00, the R8 CF-R8WWLAJP is only available in Japan for now. We expect a holiday release as it will certainly be a contender with those specs.

Acer Netbook Price Drop

Acer has announced that they are offering their blue or pink 8.9-inch Netbook with built-in AT&T Mobility Broadband for only $79.00 with a new 2-year commitment with plans at $60.00 a month or more. The netbook, which can be found at RadioShack, has a CrystalBrite LED backlit LCD screen with 1024x600 resolution, 1GB memory, 160GB hard drive, Intel Atom processor, WiFi, WiMAX and 3G wireless access, 3 USB ports and Windows XP.

Logitech Cooling Pad N100, Notebook Riser N110

Logitech has announced two new accessories for your notebook. The Cooling Pad adds extra airflow with a slotted surface and a USB fan. The N100 utilizes rear air intake and its enclosed construction protects from damage or dust. It will be out this month for $29.99. The Notebook Riser does what its name implies and can also be used with peripherals. It can be used at a 20, 30, or 40% angle and has a rubber-soled swivel base. The N110 will be available in May, also for $29.99.

Microsoft Notebook Cooling Base

Microsoft has unveiled a Notebook Cooling Base with flip-up stand, a first for the company. Only 1.16-inches thick,  it is curved so that it will fit on a desk or lap if adjusted 90º. The USB-powered fan has a built-in height adjustment, comes in black and white, and is lightweight and compact at a size of 11.4 x 11.4-inch. It should be out around November at a price of about $30.00.

Samsung NC20 Mini-Notebook

Samsung has become grammatically correct while announcing their new netbook Mini-notebook. The 12.1-inch NC20 is a larger version of their NC10 and will have a Via 1.3GHz Nano processor inside. It also features a 1280x800 resolution, Chrome9 graphics, Windows XP Home Edition, 1 GB DDR2 memory and 160GB HDD storage. The N20 utilizes 6 Li-ion batteries for 6.5 hours of life, is Bluetooth capable and has 3 USB ports, an Ethernet LAN and a 3-in-1 card reader. No price or availability date has been announced.

Samsung LapFit Series LCD Monitors

Samsung has unveiled their Synmaster LapFit series of LCD monitors. The LD190G (19-inches) and LD220G (22-inches) can be used with your laptop, notebook or netbook if you want a larger screen or with a smaller PC that doesn’t include one. Hook up to your USB port and it sits level with your PC. Both displays have a contrast ratio of 20000:1, a resolution of 1369x768 and a USB hub. No details have been released on availability and price.
