Possible Suspect Arrested for Deaths of Jennifer Hudson’s Relatives

A day after ‘s mother and brother were found murdered, a young boy remains missing while a possible suspect sits in custody.

Late Friday night, William Balfour - the singer’s estranged brother-in-law - was located by the Chicago Police Department hours after the bodies of 57-year-old Darnell Donerson (Jennifer’s mother) and 29-year-old Jason Hudson were found. Although no charges have yet been filed, officers identified Balfour as a person of interest in the murders and in the disappearance of Julian King, his 7-year-old stepson.

The crime scene was discovered yesterday afternoon when Jennifer’s sister, Julia Hudson, returned to the house after work. When police arrived to the South Side home, they found a woman with a gunshot wound to her head in the living room and a man with a gunshot wound to his chest in a bedroom. An Amber Alert was issued shortly thereafter for King. Based on earlier reports of gunshots fired, officers believe the incident may have actually occurred around 9:00 in the morning.

Parole Denied for John Lennon’s Killer

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Legal Issues, Breaking News,

John Lennon

It was nearly three decades ago when legendary songwriter/singer/musician was gunned down in front of his apartment building in New York City. This week, Lennon’s killer was denied parole for the fifth time.

The parole request was denied this time, as it has been denied in the past, “due to concern for the public safety and welfare.” Lennon’s killer was sentenced to twenty years to life by the state of New York. The took place on December 8, 1980.

Lennon’s killer will not be named in this article, per the request of former Beatle (and Lennon’s songwriting partner) and Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono. When John Lennon was shot and killed, the two asked in a joint statement that the killer’s name never be repeated or printed. To do so would only give him the notoriety which he sought.

Thailand Pulls GTA IV After Teen Kills Cabbie

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Editorial, Video Games,

GTA IVWhen you read about this stuff it still seems incredulous. Officials in Thailand have banned Grand Theft Auto IV after a teen claimed to have murdered a cab driver after having seen it in the game. Thai newspapers report that the 18 year-old tried to steal the taxi then killed the 54 year-old driver when he fought back. Bangkok Police Capt. Veerarit Pipatansak claims that “he wanted to find out if it was as easy in real life to rob a taxi as it was in the game.” If convicted, the teen could face the death penalty, a high price to pay for a video game.

Which do you guys think is more ludicrous, the fact that the kid was influenced enough to commit a crime or that the officials think banning the game will stop the problem?

Two New Films Put John Lennon in Limelight

John LennonHe was killed in January of 1980…and the world hasn’t been the same since. Once a , always a star, and nearly deported by President Nixon, British-born grabbed his fair share of headlines during his remarkable life. But in death, he has become a legend, and now two new movies will explore the events surrounding his assassination.

Historical accuracy rules the film , which delves deeply into the world of killer Mark David Chapman. The other, , stars (who put on weight for the role). Excerpts from Chapman’s diaries are featured in The Killing, done voice-over style as fans watch the horrific re-creation of Lennon’s murder in New York City. The Killing honestly makes an effort to take viewers into Chapman’s head, but as his famous crime has never been fully explained this theatrical attempt falls a little short.

Johnny Depp and Tim Burton: Together Again

Sweeney Todd PosterOver the years, many actors have come and gone. Few have had the staying power of Johnny Depp, who continues to get high-profile roles and enjoys his pick of scripts. The raven-haired thespian has showcased his acting talents over the years with an array of somewhat odd roles, preferring darker-toned movies rather than lighthearted comedy. A long-standing director-actor relationship and Depp’s penchant for the unordinary makes him perfect for Tim Burton’s , an adaptation based on the successful Broadway play.

The movie, set in London more than one hundred years ago, features Depp as none other than Todd, a deranged barber bent on murderous revenge. DreamWorks and both lent studios to create this tale of cannibalism, revenge, death, and darkness.  By the way, it’s a musical.

Sweeney Todd hits theaters December 21.

Kurt Cobain Story Hits the Silver Screen

Kurt CobainDavid Benioff (Troy screenwriter) has signed an agreement to write a movie about former Nirvana singer, Kurt Cobain. A Universal project, the movie will be based on the 2001 book Heavier Than Heaven, written by Charles Cross. Details are still up in the air on the film, which may or may not contain an on-screen appearance from Cobain’s widow, . She will, however, serve as an executive producer.

After Cobain’s 1994 death, rumors and innuendo abounded regarding the mysterious circumstances of how he died.  Whenever a celebrity is involved, gossip circles will often repeat the same question: ‘Was it murder or suicide?’  From Marilyn to , no one wants to believe their favorite stars would take their own lives (or attempt to). It’s unknown at this point which side of the story the movie will tell.  In any event, it’s a death that will continue to remain question-rich and somewhat unsolved in the minds of fans…like many other Hollywood deaths before and since.

O.J. Simpson Book Gets Second Shot

O.J. Simpson mugshot

The family of Ronald Goldman has struck up a new deal with literary agents to publish and repackage O.J. Simpson’s “If I Did It.” The book is about the slayings of Goldman and Simpson’s ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson. The family will leave Simpson’s manuscript completely intact, adding their own commentary to the pages. Portions of sales of the book will go to the Ron Goldman Foundation for Justice. The book was set for release last year, but public outrage kept it off the shelves because of the gritty subject matter: in the book, O.J. explains how he would have committed the murders – though he maintains throughout that he did not, in fact, commit them.

Investigating Chris Benoit Tragedy

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Talent, Gossip, Internet, News,

Chris Benoit Authorities are still trying to piece together the events that led to Chris Benoit’s murderous rage and subsequent suicide, while World Wrestling Entertainment does their best to downplay his alleged steroid usage. DEA officials raided Benoit’s physician’s offices Wednesday, confiscating medical records. WWE owner Vince McMahon denies steroid usage among his former wrestler, saying that Benoit was tested in April and the results came back “totally negative.” Benoit strangled his 43-year-old wife in their Atlanta home Friday night, then smothered their son the next day. Benoit placed Bibles next to both bodies and sent text messages to friends on Sunday morning before hanging himself with his gym equipment. The case seemed pretty cut and dry…but there is one strange piece of evidence still left on the table. Benoit’s Wikipedia entry was updated with news of his wife’s death – more than 12 hours before police discovered the bodies. The entry has been tracked all the way to Stamford, Connecticut, the home base of the WWE, but it is unknown if the person who edited the entry is actually connected with World Wrestling Entertainment…or even in Connecticut. Chris Benoit’s text messages were sent hour after the Wikipedia page was already updated.
