Trent Reznor Has Lost His Grammys

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Awards, Rock, Soundtracks,

Trent ReznorTrent Reznor has lost his Grammy awards, but doesn't care. The Nine Inch Nails musician has been handed two trophies by the US National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, but isn't sure where he placed them since moving house, and he is in no rush to find them as he thinks the ceremony is "rigged and cheap."

"Why don't the Grammys matter? Because it feels rigged and cheap - like a popularity contest that the insiders club has decided," Trent said.

Last year, Trent composed the score for drama movie The Social Network with Atticus Ross, which saw the pair win a Golden Globe and an Oscar for Best Original Score - and the 46-year-old musician said he values those awards as it was a different type of "challenge" to create music for film: "The movie side is interesting, challenging, different and rewarding in way that I hadn't experienced through my music career."

Atticus counts one of Trent's piano lines in the score, which he'd thought up "almost as an afterthought," as a big part of the success in the David Fincher-directed movie. "Trent said, 'I've got an idea for this piano line; let me just try this.' And he puts down that line and plays what I think is one of the greatest cinematic pieces of last year. Fincher really zeroed in on it, and it was that piece that changed the whole landscape of that film," Ross said.

Angelina Jolie Praises Brad

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt at the premiere of her filmAngelina Jolie has praised her "wonderful" partner Brad Pitt.

The Oscar-winning actress - who raises six children, Maddox, 10, Pax, right, Zahara, six, Shiloh, five, and three-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, with the Hollywood actor - is grateful to have had the support of Brad while she filmed her directorial debut In the Land of Blood and Honey.

"I have a wonderful partner in Brad and we take turns working always. So I was with the kids when he shot Moneyball, and when he finished he took a few months off while I was shooting this. It was helpful [to have them there], but the kids had to be kept away from most of the set. So they would be outside playing with the fake snow and I would be inside working on something else," Jolie told People.

The 36-year-old star - who was accompanied to last night's premiere of In the Land of Blood and Honey by Brad and his parents, Bill and Jane - admitted she "couldn't" have worked on the project without her support system in place. Speaking about having the trio by her side, Angelina added, "It means everything. I couldn't be standing here without them."

Zac Efron’s Kissing Problems

Zac Efron and Michelle Pfeiffer in New Year's EveZac Efron's on-screen kiss with Michelle Pfeiffer "wasn't very sexy."

The High School Musical hunk - who appears alongside the actress in new ensemble movie New Year's Eve - admitted locking lips with the star didn't go as smoothly as he had hoped, and he ended up having to "spit" on the floor right before the smooch.

"Those things are best to do spontaneous. Have fun and be in the moment. I definitely thought about how it was going to go down. In my mind, the way I pictured it, it was going to be perfect, very romantic, very leading man. Then of course, as we went to film it, right when I went to dip her, a huge piece of confetti went straight into my mouth. I didn't want to finish the kiss like that, so I spit and went for it. That's actually in the movie."

"It wasn't very sexy, but it was cute," Michelle added.

Angelina Jolie Sued For Copyright Violation

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Movies, Legal Issues,

Angelina JolieAngelina Jolie is being sued for copyright violation. Croatian journalist James Braddock claims the Oscar-winning actress' upcoming directorial debut In the Land of Blood and Honey is based on his book The Subject Work, which he published in 2007.

In a lawsuit filed in a federal court in Illinois, Mr. Braddock claims he met with producer Edin Sarkic - who is now working on Angelina's movie - several times throughout 2008 to discuss the possibility of his tome being adapted for the big screen, X17 reports. He maintains the pair talked about the details of the book, which similarly to In the Land of Blood and Honey documents the love story between a female prisoner and a Serbian soldier, "including plot and character development and the story's cultural significance and historical accuracy."

A judge will now have determine whether "the claimed obvious similarities meet the high threshold needed to prove copyright infringement." Mr. Braddock is seeking an injunction to block the film's scheduled release on December 23, as well as unspecified damages.

Bruno Mars Happy To Be On Twilight Soundtrack

Bruno MarsBruno Mars feels his new song "Let It Rain" fits in with the new Twilight Saga movie perfectly.

The singer recorded the track for the penultimate installment of the vampire movie, Breaking Dawn: Part 1, and says the song pays tribute to the romance between lead characters Edward Cullen and Bella Swan.

"When I saw the scenes I was already working on a dark love song. In every relationship you don't want to lose your friend. That's the hardest part. I didn't want to write it like 'I'm gonna sink my teeth into you.' It was just honest, pure emotion."

As well as being pleased with the song, Bruno was also impressed with the movie as he experienced a variety of emotions: "I watched some parts that made me laugh. I watched some parts that made me bawl into tears and just cry and cry. I thought it was shot beautifully. They did some really cool stuff. The cinematography was great. And the storyline."

Blu-ray finally overtaking DVD regularly in sales

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Home Entertainment, Movies,

Consumers are tending to favor Blu-ray over DVD when buying copies of top hits for home use, a nonprofit analyst group that tracks Hollywood reported Monday.

Overall consumer spending on home entertainment jumped nearly five percent from the same period a year ago, the Digital Entertainment Group reported, the first time consumer spending increased since 2008.

The DEG didn't explicitly say that a crossover between DVD and Blu-ray sales is occurring. But "for major box-office hits, sales of packaged goods often surpass 50 percent on Bluray in their first week of release," DEG said. In all, Blu-ray, electronic sell-through, and digital movie streaming all saw revenue growth.

Catalog sales of Blu-ray discs are also increasing, the DEG said, with year-to-date increases of more than 60 percent, led by Star Wars, Citizen Kane, Scarface and The Big Lebowski. Total household penetration of all Blu-ray compatible devices now stands at more than 33.5 million U.S. homes, DEG said, up 52 percent from a year ago.
