This has to be the best commercial for a product since dropping a Timex in water and watching it keep on ticking. Andrew Cheatle lost his Nokia phone while at sea and he assumed it was gone forever. While shopping for a new one about a week later, his girlfriend claimed his number was calling hers. It turns out that fisherman Glen Kerley had caught a 25 lb., 4 ft. long cod, found the phone inside and, amazingly, it still worked after it dried out. IA Technologies is working to release their Zumba phone, supposedly the world’s first fully accurate voice recognition celllie. Attach an earpiece to the back of the handset and you can operate it mostly with your voice, although you need to push a button to get text messages read to you. Detach the keypad and screen and you can wear it over your ear. Promised to be low-cost, you say your contact’s name and Zumba connects you via a secure site. This phone has been in development for about 3 years and you can sign up to keep track of the progress made. We are not sure if this will come to pass in the near future, but we do know the company is looking for investors.

Nokia cell phone owners, take a look at the KIT Eco Charger. The device is so clever that it turns itself off automatically when your phone is fully charged. A spokesperson from the Carphone Warehouse claims that if everyone used one there would be a savings of about 300,000,000 kWh of electricity per year in the UK. Imagine what it would be worldwide. We think that’s a good start for £23 (~$33.00) and that KIT should expand their line with chargers for other phones.
