The 2014 Gear Live Holiday Bash, in pictures!

VellVett performing at the 2014 Gear Live Holiday Bash

A few weeks ago, Gear Live threw down and kicked off the holiday season with the 2014 Gear Live Holiday Bash, and now we've got the pictures to prove it. At the event, I presented my picks for the best holiday gadgets, along with help from my friends Jess Estrada (of FreshJess), GeekWire, Drew Morrison, and New Tech Seattle. We had Seattle's VellVett perform, as well as "Kid Sensation" Xola Malik. Blitz, the mascot for the current Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, made an appearance as well. It was a great night full of food, music, and gadgets giveaways.

We've got to give a warm shout-out to the sponsors who helped make the 2014 Gear Live Holiday Bash possible, and sending the attendees home with awesome gifts: Monster, AT&T Seattle, and Rhapsody.

GeekWire Radio andru edwards

I made another appearance on this weeks episode of GeekWire Radio here in Seattle, Washington, keeping my streak alive as the person with the most guest appearances in GeekWire Radio history! In this episode, which also features Eyewitness News reporter Essex Porter (pictured with me above, and a huge Windows Phone advocate), we talk about a couple of recent Gear Live stories, including:

I brought in the two iPhone 6 mockups in both 4.7- and 5.5-inch varieties, which made for some good conversation. We also chat about the news of the week, which included the release of the Amazon Fire Phone, and we also had a discussion about what Microsoft needs to do to make Windows Phone more accepted by the general consumer. You can listen to the show now by grabbing the MP3 below, or hitting play in the widget.

Andru Edwards GeekWire radioI made an appearance on this weeks episode of GeekWire Radio here in Seattle, Washington, and the episode is now live for you to listen to or download. It kicks off with a report from Microsoft’s Build conference in San Francisco, talking about all the Windows 8.1 news. I also share my thoughts on iOS 7 and OS X Mavericks, along with stories from my participation in the Ford “Fiesta Movement” social media campaign.

We also talk about some of the top startup news of the week, including the cool Poppy device that turns an iPhone into a 3D camera, and an app called IdealSeat that crunches large amounts of data to tell baseball fans where they should sit for the best chance of catching a ball.

Vote for Gear Live’s Bleeding Edge TV in the 2012 Podcast Awards!

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Announcements, Features, Videos,

Alright guys, we need your help. Gear Live's flagship video show, Bleeding Edge TV, is up nominated in two categories in the 8th annual Podcast Awards. What's cool about that is that we never once asked for anyone to submit us for nominations, so you guys did this all on your own and we totally appreciate that! Now that we are in the running, though, we're asking for your assistance!

The two categories we're up for are the People's Choice Award, and Best Video Podcast. Voting is simple--just head over to the Podcast Awards page and choose Bleeding Edge TV in those two categories, and submit your ballot. You'll get an email confirmation link to confirm your vote, and when you click the link, you are done. If you do this once, you are awesome. You can vote once per day, and if you do that, we will love you forever.

If we end up winning here, we'll be running a major giveaway. We won't spoil the surprise (or generate false hope,) but it'll be good. Again, just head over to the Podcast Awards page and vote for Bleeding Edge TV in the People's Choice and Best Video Podcast categories! Wanna help more? Click here to share this on Twitter!

Video: Talking about Google Chromebooks on the news

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Google, PC / Laptop, Videos,

Yesterday, Google announced the availability of the Chromebook line at Google I/O 2011. You can see our news on the Samsung Series 5 Chromebook and Acer Chromebook from yesterday, but I was also featured on our local news here in Seattle to talk about the steps Google is taking to move the OS into the cloud. We've embedded that clip above. Enjoy!
