Mischa Barton a Rumored Gossip Girl

Mischa BartonAlthough she was killed off her last show, has apparently been invited to join another Joss Schwartz series: .

The O.C. native was asked to star as Georgina Sparks, a character who would bring Serena’s not-so-wholesome past to the forefront.

Although I was initially apprehensive upon hearing the news - I’d really like to see the program survive on its own merits - I quickly had a change of heart.  If stunt casting is what it takes to get the show some attention, then I’m all for it.

But wouldn’t ya know it - Barton apparently thinks she’s too good for the series.  Although she really hasn’t done anything noteworthy lately (unless you count her recent DUI and marijuana charges), her reps have advised her to pass.

You know what?  Screw Barton.  Let’s bring her ex-mommy, Melinda Clarke, into the fold.  Now that would make things a bit more interesting!

Aaron Carter Arrested

Aaron CarterThe guy once linked to both Hillary Duff and now has something in common with the latter:  he’s been arrested.

, Nick’s younger bro, was detained early this afternoon for speeding in Kimble County, Texas.  After the pop singer (I believe he’s a singer - though I couldn’t name anything he’s sung to save my life) was pulled over, deputies discovered marijuana inside his vehicle.  According to TMZ, the 20-year-old had at least 2 ounces in his possession.  Smart.

Carter is currently being held in Junction City while he awaits his first court appearance on Friday.

Weeds on MSN Video

Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Drama, Cable, Showtime, Internet,

Mary-Louise ParkerCome and get it—MSN Video has the first episode of this season’s . The Showtime show, starring Mary-Louise Parker, has become a critical darling and Golden Globe winner. The season premiere aired on Monday and now the complete episode can be seen for free on MSN Video. Good news for sad little folk like myself who don’t have Showtime and don’t have access to cool shows like Weeds. Mary-Louise Parker stars as a suburban mom who makes her living selling marijuana. Truly a series concept that has not been done before, and with Parker, you can’t go wrong. So, while I was excited that I could view the first episode in its entirety, sadly, there are no future plans to stream additional full-length episodes. See—that’s how they get you hooked—give you a little and leave you wanting for more. Instead, the site will show short clips from the series and that’s it. So what’s a girl without Showtime going to do to get her fix? Add Showtime to my cable lineup? More likely I’ll just wait for the show to come out on DVD.

Showtime Renews Weeds For Second Season

Weeds

Watching a rerun on Showtime Friday night, I was reminded that the Mary-Louise Parker, Elizabeth Perkins series is one of the smartest half hours on television.  From it’s contagious opening theme song, “Little Boxes,” to its dark, offbeat characters, and skewed situations. Weeds is always worthwhile.

The series is a filmed comedy noir about the dirty secrets just beneath the squeaky-clean tract facade of fictional, suburban Agrestic, California.  Parker plays a widow and mom who peddles pot to Agrestic in order to maintain her family’s lifestyle. Earlier this year, she won a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series Comedy.  Even so, Weeds’ first season played to a small, if devoted, audience.

Three cheers to for not taking the Weed Whacker to the award-winning, critically popular series.  Au contrare, the network has ordered a 12-episode second season.  Now in production, Weeds’ devotees can see fresh episodes this summer.
