T-Mobile G2x

T-Mobile confirmed today that its Samsung Sidekick 4G and LG G2x phones will be available in stores on April 20.

"It's official, T-Mobile's Sidekick 4G arrives on April 20," T-Mobile tweeted this morning. The G2x, meanwhile, will be available online on April 15 and in stores on April 20, T-Mobile also tweeted. It will sell for $199.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and two-year contract.

T-Mobile confirmed plans for the Samsung Sidekick 4G back in January, and provided more details last month. It features a 3.5-inch, 800-by-480 screen and is based on a heavily customized Android 2.2.1 and Samsung's TouchWiz. The screen slides up with a click to reveal the 5-row QWERTY keyboard.

Posted by Patrick Lambert Categories: Mobile, Software

facebook feature phones

The Facebook iPhone and Android apps have been highly developed and kept up to date with the latest features that the social networking site offers. However, most people around the world are not using smartphones. That's why Facebook launched a new app designed for feature phones, supporting more than 2,500 devices from LG, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, and more. The new app provides a better experience than using the mobile site, while still being viable for a lower powered device. Facebook worked with 14 carriers to offer free data usage for this app, with more coming. There's no doubt that this will bring more people to the site, especially from developing countries.

2009 Holiday Gift Guide: LG 47LH50

LG 47LH50

We wanted to find a nice mid-range HDTV we could recommend this year, and we think the LG 47LH50 is it.This is LG’s 47-inch, widget-powered television, and it brings the heat with a 1080p display, and 5.1 surround sound output. Why would you want to output sound from the display? Well, thanks to the Yahoo! widget support, you get things like Netflix, YouTube, and a bunch of other embedded media playback services, including the Vudu streaming movie service. Just connect the LG 47LH50 to your home network, and the content is right at your fingertips. The part, though, is the price. These typically sell for about $1500, but Amazon is selling it for $1,139.

Sprint LG Lotus 2 rocks outer touchscreen

Posted by Mark Rollins Categories: Cell Phones, Rumors

LG Lotus 2We never expected to see a basic phone like the Lotus get a sequel, but that’s apparently what’s happening, and the Lotus 2 seems to be upon us. The phone should be launching sometime in January, and will have the same QWERTY keyboard as featured on the original. As for differences, the Lotus 2 will replace the outer info screen with a touchscreen display, although, how useful a display that small will be with the added touch controls is questionable. In addition, the Lotus 2 will support 32GB microSD cards, up from 12GB on the original.

LG working on 15-inch OLED HDTV

LG to sell 15-inch OLED HDTV

I first saw Sony’s 11-inch OLED XEL-1 at almost two years ago.  I couldn’t see myself paying so much ($2500) for such a tiny screen, even though it had, at the time, the best picture that I had ever seen for something only millimeters thin.

It would appear that is readying their own HDTV, this one being a 15-incher.  It will only be on sale in Korea, sometime in November.  As of now, there are no pricing details, so just take solace in the fact that it’ll fall into the OMGExpensive category.
