Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: HDTV, Hot Deals,
If you’re in the market for a new HDTV, then you’ll wanna pay close attention to today’s Deal of the Day, because it’s one of our best. You can currently save a whopping $950 (that’s 43%!) off of one of the new 52-inch Sony BRAVIA JDL-52EX700 1080p LED displays. Looking for something a bit smaller? How about $750 off (4%!) of the 46-inch Sony BRAVIA KDL-46EX700? The great thing about these deals is that these are the current 2010 models, not some older units that needs to be clearanced out. These sets have integrated 802.11n WiFi, DLNA support, and even stream content from Netflix, Amazon Video, YouTube, Slacker, and more. Oh, and even better? Free shipping.

Apple set to finally refresh 30-inch Cinema Display?
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Displays, Rumors,
If you’ve been waiting to pick up a new 30-inch Apple Cinema Display, but were waiting until Apple released an LED-backlit version, there may be hope for you yet. Now, we don’t want to get your hopes up too much, but from the looks of things, the 30-inch Cinema Display have been pushed back. Typically, they would ship within 24 hours, but as of today, it is showing a 5-7 business day wait. Historically, when there is a large and sudden shipping delay like that, we’ve seen a product refresh follow soon thereafter. Now that Apple has worked out the 27-inch iMac LED display issues, maybe it’s finally time that the 30-inch display gets update (or replaced with a standalone LED-backlit 27-inch Cinema Display.)

JVC LT-32WX50 LCD HDTV is a quarter-inch thick
Posted by Mark Rollins Categories: Displays, HDTV, Home Entertainment,
You read the headline correctly, this new LCD from JVC is only a quarter inch thin at its thickest. The LT-32WX50 has edge-lit backlighting, a wide color gamut, two HMI inputs, VGA-style PC input, RS-232 port of custom installations, and a 4000:1 contrast ratio. It should be available in November for a price of about $3,000. If you ask us, that is fairly expensive for an edge-lit display, what with the lack of local dimming and what not.

Sony Bravia ZX5: LED-backlit, slim LCD HDTV
Posted by Mark Rollins Categories: Displays, HDTV, Wireless / WiFi,
We know that Sony is busy prepping their 3D strategy, but in the meantime, they are still working on pumping out some awesome televisions with the ZX5 series of Bravia LCD televisions. The Sony Bravia ZX5 sports edge-mounted LED backlighting (no local-dimming Triluminous tech here - boo), 240Hz Motion Flow, a wireless HD media receiver, and a 16.6-mm frame. The set will hit stores in Japan in November, and I’m sure we’ll hear about the US launch at CEDIA.

BenQ Goes Green with LED-backlit V2400 and V220 Eco
Posted by Mark Rollins Categories: Design, Displays, Peripherals,
It’s good to know that major electronics makers have realized that it makes more sense to “go green” than to avoid it. BenQ, for example, has recently created two new V Series monitors that are meant to be eco-friendly. The 24-inch V2400 Eco and 21.5-inch V2200 Eco have dynamic contrast ratios of 5,000,000:1, and are LED-backlit 1080p panels. The monitors are made from 28 percent recycled plastic. They also reduce power by 30 percent in eco mode, and 36 percent overall. These displays are available in China in a week, but we expect them to arrive stateside soon enough.
