Hurt Locker Producers Sue BitTorrent Users

The Hurt Locker

If you happened to download through BitTorrent, you may be receiving a lawsuit from the film’s producers in your mailbox soon.

In one of the largest lawsuits filed against individuals, Voltage Pictures is suing 5,000 internet users who downloaded the Oscar-winning film illegally. While Voltage currently only has the IP numbers of the targeted individuals, they’re working with ISPs to identify the pirates, who will be sent letters demanding that they pay $1,500 for being too cheap to catch the film on Netflix. If the $1,500 isn’t paid, Voltage plans to take the downloader to court at ten times the amount.

Voltage seems particularly keen on collecting their money, as the film has won numerous awards, yet only earned less than $17 million at the box office.

Gene Simmons Accused of Sexual Assault

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Music, Television, Legal Issues,

Gene SimmonsRock-turned-reality star has been accused of sexual assault and sexual battery.

Make-up artist Victoria Jackson has filed a lawsuit against the KISS singer - whose real name is Gene Klein - alleging he approached her when she was working at Los Angeles’ ESPN Sports Center last November and said in “a lecherous and inappropriate manner, ‘I like you.’”

According to the documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, Victoria was “surprised by the overtly sexual attention.” She accuses the 60-year-old rocker of grabbing and hugging her, to which she responded: “Ouch. You are hurting me.” She then tried to back out of his way because “his spiked chest was jabbing her in the face.”

Gene refused to let go of the make-up artist, instead “he pulled her even closer, tightly, pinning her arms and said, ‘No not yet.’” He is then accused of “humping her to the extent she could feel his groin grinding into her.” Gene then allegedly said, “Aw, That’s better! Now you can go.”

According to RadarOnline.com, Victoria - who described the rocker’s behavior as “vile and inexcusable” - is seeking over $500,000 in damages. She claims she has suffered humiliation, shame, embarrassment, anger, anxiety, loss of sleep and depression. However, the Crazy Crazy Nights star has filed a suit against Victoria claiming she wanted money and no assault occurred.

Items Du Jour: Cavalli Goes Crazy, Marc Talks Universes, and Kate Moss Goes Topless

Alicia Keys—Roberto Cavalli reveals that he is “a completely typical man,” in that women drive him crazy. Considering that it’s Cavalli, I’m more inclined to think that he’s the one driving the opposite (and possibly same?) sex crazy.

—Although she’s usually looking sultry and glamorous, Alicia Keys showed up to the Keep a Child Alive Black Ball in London looking frumpy and too layered. She may be aiming for flower petals, but all I see is a feathered animal.

—Even though she’s apparently loaded with cash, Gisele Bundchen and husband Tom Brady need not worry about being sued. A New York judge dismissed a case carried by photographers who claim they were shot by bodyguards at the famous couple’s Costa Rican wedding.

—Supermodel Kate Moss spends some serious vacation time topless on a Caribbean beach with boyfriend Jamie Hince of The Kills. The couple even wore matching bathing suit bottoms!

—Catch a video of Marc Jacobs talking at the Louis Vuitton Bonds Street opening about extravagance, luxury, and… universes.

Was really assaulted by her former Desperate Housewives boss…or is she simply desperate for attention?

In a new lawsuit filed Monday, the former ABC actress claims a September 2008 incident between herself and writer was the reason she was let go from the hit show.

According to the papers, Nicollette was pulled aside and struck in her head and face after she “questioned Cherry about something that was in the script.” Although she supposedly reported the incident to ABC, she was later written out of the program.

Jon Gosselin Wants Out of His TLC Contract

Jon GosselinThis probably isn’t the first time someone tried to cite a case of stupidity as a legal defense. , calling himself “an unsophisticated father of eight,” says he was in no position to sign a contract with TLC. He had no lawyer or manager to guide him, you see, so he can hardly be held accountable for putting his own legal name on legal paperwork.

Gosselin said the deal was bad from the start (so why did he continue for so many seasons…?), they only pulled down $2,000 per episode. He even attacked the cable network on another front, saying that TLC violated child labor laws. TLC denies these claims and states that Gosselin did have a lawyer at the contract meetings.
